1. O Lord, bless the companion Ibn Al-Sahib
With a high status and happy sustenance

2. And protect him as long as the dawn conceals its wrap,
Wrapped in dignity, an ashy pale garment.

3. Join the elite to the elite to become, by morning,
One who severs the causes of excesses with a cutting sword.

4. And may each desirous one attain what he wishes
From us, and every brother hopes, though unmet.

5. For he is one whose palm remains
Achieving, seeking, requesting.

6. A king owning each glance in the night
Of a determined, piercing will.

7. And he is devout towards the kingdom, an ascetic,
With stern punishment and overwhelming authority.

8. You see him mix punishment and piety
With his formidable day and monastic night.

9. O Lord, grant him the gift of God, for he
Is a lion and a towering pillar, a pouring rain of gifts.

10. Sweet yet firm, and on the day of turmoil,
With white swords, a refined commander of regiments,

11. Whose might persists with lances
And whose phalanxes stand in battalions.

12. Far is the distance of his glory from envier,
And near are the hopes of his palm from desirer.

13. He is feared on the day of fury, and sees
No apprehension towards death on the day of fury.

14. He defends the abode of Islam, its fiercest protector,
And for the successor of the Merciful, the most loyal successor.

15. He retires and awakes in safety and peace,
And to his succession and war upon opponent.

16. I have exhausted most of his abundance,
When I drew near him, and to the intimate.

17. Wait, O Abu Al-Fadl, whom the world
Has surpassed, by the right of your obligatory munificence.

18. The elite and the virtuous knew your right hand,
For it was upon you, time's irreversible blow.

19. No garden sheds its leaves, though its expanse
Laughed with the laughter of pouring rain.

20. Reddened and verdant, as if
Its beautiful sight were the cheeks of lovely maidens.

21. The early dew sprinkles its soil,
Like beads strung atop necklaces.

22. As if its meadows were the smooth white cores
Of polished reeds.

23. When seen under the sun,
You see the radiance of melting snow.

24. One day, you were the finest of people, a flower
In the sky of glory, a flower among stars.

25. So you remained, with lofty ambition,
Transcending, eminent, an overwhelming downpour.

26. Passionate in bestowing gifts,
Shooting the enemy with a precise arrow.
