1. O you who unjustly deserted me,
Take my hand from the agony of passion.

2. I have been excessive in carrying the burden of love,
As much as you have been excessive in repudiation.

3. Can a promise be changed to betrayal? Can
Nearness be replaced with distance?

4. By Allah, my days when I desisted
From you are like the rugged, barren deserts of Najd.

5. And the days of youth and the promise of youth
And the remarkable past with Hind.

6. And the stance in which passion intoxicated me
With sweetness, that unique intoxication.

7. With every cheek, if it turns away, it turns away
The resolve of the patient, firm one.

8. Awake from the languors of passion,
Intoxicated, with eyes and build drunk.

9. Of supple, delicate physique
And cheeks as rosy as a rose.

10. She lets down, when walking, curled hair upon
Mounds like the waving, curled sand dune.

11. How much anguish of passion is in her mouth
Of cool, healing and coolness.

12. If you intend to abandon, then feel with it
The passion of one whose glory is in praise.

13. I have been distracted from it by a vision of dew
Far, but sharing sustenance.

14. Well-mannered, whose determination
Spits upon the west of the Indian sword.

15. Preceding, excelling the generous ones,
They strove, and so attained the forefront of glory.

16. One whose cheek gives life with the water of life,
And a brow scorching with fire.

17. One praised who knows his duty to the praiseworthy
And respects the purpose of those who visit him.

18. He has countless gifts
And rain cannot be limited by counting.
