1. Tell Bahāʾ al-Dīn, the defender of loftiness
And slayer of ignorance, reviver of knowledge,

2. O most true to your word, from whom
No one loses the gold in his palm,

3. O you whose good tidings bring joy to those
Who hope for success in their pursuits,

4. No distressed person feels dejection
When seeking your help, not even in hardship,

5. Never have my eyes seen, nor witnessed
Among people, one nobler in lineage than you,

6. None with a face more radiant when pleased,
None whose pardon is surer when angry,

7. The one we hope will ward off harm,
And seek to relieve our worries,

8. If the arrival of your gifts is delayed,
I feel no wonder on the night they come,

9. For I am one who feels joy when
I see your gifts like trays of celebration,

10. While I spend my nights sleepless,
Lest the firewood run out,

11. I have fulfilled the right of passion’s debt,
Throughout the nights that passed,

12. So bless me with gifts sent quickly,
And make me joyful with your favors,

13. And if you are late due to some excuse,
The glory of the Arabs expresses my thanks.
