1. He smiled with a smile like the crescent
And his words flowed gently like a wakeful dawn

2. He came to us with two meaningfulness
That intoxicated the beauty of eyes and comforted

3. So wrong had its cups
And the apples of his cheeks outshone all cups

4. So I called, no woman in love is obeyed
Except the one obedient to the Master Seafarer

5. Shall I dismiss one whose patience meets
Loads of beauty, complaining of weapon?

6. He has a gaze like the darkness of night
Upon a cheek like the light of dawn

7. My heart, fearing his abandonment
Is sick in its branches, ruffled in its wings

8. It is troubled by discomfort in the bracelet
And restless with anxiety in the sash

9. The melodies of passion have broken our pact
While your pact remains binding on each fair lady

10. The clouds have dragged their hems
And wandered in your meadows, cure for the winds

11. And passed by your soil, a spring
Rivaling the softness of a generous hand's soil

12. You're the companion's master, the giver
Whose gifts people seize like free offerings

13. You're the breast that's become relieved
Flowing, while the breast of the elegist laments

14. You bring us glad tidings of wishes
And fulfill the hopes of the hopeful

15. Your opinions mock the gazelle
And your pens make light of spears

16. A generous horse, when his kindness floods
Comes to you, shamed by mountain floods

17. Now my lifetime's barrenness wails
So be my companion after prolonged estrangement

18. And revive what was once fresh, though now
It meets wars with brazen face

19. I aspired to the peak of his glory
And built it with dew and struggle

20. So the meadow, fresh in the morning
Is no match for the torrential, lavish downpour

21. His poetic laments weep therein openly
Yet his narcissi and anemones smile

22. With a scent more fragrant than his honor
His honor remains freely offered

23. I say to the guide of Jesus tomorrow
Make haste, travelling to meet the rising dawn

24. Is that the meadow of cheeks with morning dew
My Abu al-Fadl has shone, so trust in success

25. For there lies the brother of bounty whose glance
Yearns for generous deeds, intensely ambitious

26. He inclines toward bestowal, all inclination
And relaxes into praise, complete relaxation

27. O son of succor to the plighted and spurned
O son of valor in calamity and struggle

28. You were a granter of gifts, a benefactor
Yet fate made you exceed all I could propose

29. God! How many gifts are yours!
You're enriched beyond cupped palms' capacities

30. When fate ruins my state for me
Your gifts strive toward my wellbeing

31. You let me celebrate, time reset for me
As the night defeated the army of dawn

32. And I lived, my firm blessing brother
For fate makes firm only what you establish

33. And you remain granting bodies to those
Who would oppose your heights sacrificial bodies
