1. With undulating hips she walks
Swaying as the pendulum swings

2. Her mouth utters promise
But to the forbidden it brings sting

3. I did not forget her words of yesterday
Though sweet as thanks, they cannot be eaten

4. I said, indeed they're eaten by those
Who slander honor and are gluttons

5. When asked by a beseecher
They turn their faces, stingy and cold

6. So guide me to one today
Who will not refuse when I am bold

7. She said, Amin al-Din, for he's a man
Who answers seekers, strong and bold

8. And swear, after all this, to him
A generous host, welcoming to behold

9. That you'll not come to his door
Until the day the sickle falls
