1. O sublime one, why am I so lovesick
My sorrow grows and my anxiety doubles

2. My sadness is endless like your beauty
It pours out continuously and I have no respite

Your eyes have captivated me, I have no more fortitude

Its magic and charm is an unbreakable knot

5. Your kohl-lined eyelash flutters coquettishly
Enchanting us while your cheek dimples with joy

6. Your soft cloak almost falls
From your delicate shoulders and recoils again

7. My tears are unending if you are absent
They flow continuously and my sorrows reinforce each other

8. You laughed through your reproach and there appeared
Pearls like embers that shine through your veil

9. With your wine and gardens
You are fiery like burning embers

10. So desires flee when your cups
Appear and revelry becomes constant

11. In the meadow of life's tears lies green
Verdure, while its plants and trees flourish

12. Its stream flows gently but roars
When thunder rumbles and lightning flickers

13. O fate, you have ordained every cultured soul
To submit, though you are not equitable

14. He is trapped in the shackles of sorrow
While the vulgar enjoy freedom in your eyes

15. The miser hopes but gains nothing
Though the water's foam suggests abundance

16. If a generous soul helps him survive
It is Ibn Al-Dawamis, that noble young man

17. His stronghold forever shields
Against the onslaught of misfortunes

18. In his courtyard no drought or infertility
Afflicts, nor do dew and flowers fade

19. Those who seek him find certainty
His path always leads to hoped-for dreams

20. No harm affects his comfort even if
The rain clouds disappear from sight

21. He gives freely without needing our intercession
After mediation, hand in hand

22. Of what use is beseeching the beseecher
When hands recoil from generosity out of greed

23. His nature accepts responsibility
Judiciously, and his character embodies sweetness

24. Such is he who humbles those who oppose him
Yet fears the cunning of the lion with a spear

25. I presented praise to Abul Faraj, so whoever
Pays tribute will have praise bestowed in turn

26. They envied you when you rose high
Though envy flourishes at the pinnacle of glory

27. Had I not relied on you, I could not have built
