1. O breeze of the cheeks whose beauty never fades
You have become illuminated by the light of comely maidens

2. Clouds of sorrow continue to hover over you
Squeezing through ravines freely and openly

3. The stars did not shine upon you, if only
A soft breeze blew in the shade of slender trees

4. Yet I accepted passionate love for you
Thus I lived with you happily and content

5. An evening I did not shed a single tear
Quenched, and knew no affliction or woe

6. Yearning did not flare up in my heart
When I bid it farewell, it returned to bid me farewell

7. The full moon, in it my love is sweet
I was alone with it until the stars fell

8. My slayer blamed me, weapon in hand, and said
If I see you complaining, I will stop loving you

9. When revelry and wishes were put aside
And pieces of silver were as few as my patience

10. It called to me, melodies faint, towards a barren land
I bid the partridges farewell with a skin of wine

11. By God, how the heart is delighted with a sigh
When I smell ambergris from Yemen

12. It reminds me of those lands though I was
Never forgetful or neglectful of them

13. Ask the night about me, did it see me sleeping
And ask my friends if they saw me distracted

14. Alas! Tears will not flow for one who has
No sympathy for my love-sickness and despair

15. For I see no second to excellence
And no rival to Ala' Al-Din in glory

16. I clung to him desperately and found him
Unwilling when oppression pained him

17. Burnisher of the edges of resolve, honor and loftiness
Heavier than lead in clemency and loftier in stature

18. Through him hard days became pleasant
And the era's beauty became perfectly adorned

19. The fragrant breezes were set in motion gloriously by him
Balancing mountains in sagacity

20. A sword that destroyed darkness when war erupted
And a sea of light that surged when called upon

21. His battles quickly meet their ends
And his pursuits find hopes fulfilled

22. Of the Shining Ones who have accepted
The shades of glory and assumed the highest peaks

23. When equipped for war they are its firmest pillars
And most generous of lineage and loftiest of buildings

24. For them is Allah's Sacred House and its people
Where I slept, prayed, and came on pilgrimage

25. No command but goodness came from them
Nor any prohibition but from evil

26. Were it not for Abu Nasr and his excellence, I would not have
Hoped or roamed any land or valley

27. A generous man who forgives all sins
Of the mistaken and gives freely to those of pure hearts

28. As if his right hand, in its overflowing munificence
Were a right hand that never fails the hopeful

29. So, O honor of Islam, you remain well,
While poets go on composing poetry about you

30. They see the abundant river of your generosity still flowing
With purity, and your glory as invaluable

31. Take it, as the breeze blew gently and the raindrops of the clouds
Coquettishly wooed the flowering meadows

32. If one recited it among the people, the narrator would be thought
To be recounting a tale of seventy or eighty parts

33. You remained, as the nights passed, an object of envy
With mighty hands, vanquishing heroes, and high glories
