1. Do not heed the words of the gossip
And drink at dawn’s dew

2. You will find sorrow has settled
In the hearts of the joyful

3. A red camellia is mistaken
For a narcissus in barren land

4. The drinker boasts haughtily
Between valor and generosity

5. Follow your joy and join it
At dawn with gladness

6. For life, if youth departs
Is found between revelry and jest

7. With each sweetheart of beauty
Nature falls silent, veils lifted

8. Lightning’s hand shakes
Among the clouds amidst the hills

9. The meadow’s grass is verdant
Watered, its expanse exposed

10. The branch is exuberant, aware
That you see it while awake

11. I swear by lips’ apples
And the narcissus of sleepy eyes

12. And the song of a foreign nightingale
Its melody transcending speech

13. That I love the clamor of regret
At dawn’s first light

14. My praise to the Master Abu Al-Fadl
The generous, forgiving lord

15. Moon of dew, sun of guidance
Lion of valor in battle

16. Like wealth when asked
He gives, though banned from charity

17. His enemies lament him
And hope for his downfall

18. Revived when asked for bounty
From his concealed quiver

19. Fiercer still with sword
In the fray of thrusting spears

20. As if a lion unleashed
Among thickets of lances

21. Of splendid origin, fragrant lineage
Glory, and direct descent

22. More steadfast than their steeds
Trusting in success

23. In brave company, warriors
Above polished swords

24. When mounted, Abu Al-Fadl
Has no peer in might

25. A king whose resolve
Outdoes the west wind’s power

26. Of charming temperament
Like wine and cool water

27. My lord, Glory of the Faith
Yours is ever the way of generosity

28. None reproached your nobility
Save those expecting redemption

29. Through you the age was reformed
And the west wind subdued
