1. If you come to Ramah and the sandy hillock,
Then mix your tears with the red sands.

2. And bid peace to the ruins,
Repeating and reiterating with the two heaps of stones.

3. And ask the three abodes about the ones who halted:
Where are the riders who camped at the two sites of Layla?

4. And relate to us what news there was of them
On the day of intention, and what transpired and what was waived.

5. Would that the mourner not wipe my eyelids,
Cheek, and that he wipe neither pebbles nor soil,

6. Rather would that he pasture my love so she pastures
Not the bare land, nor meadows, but only the greenery.

7. My camels refuse any but the purest sand,
Bending the dark-red aromatic shrubs.

8. They passed the valleys of carnelian,

9. They carried perfectly marked, embellished, and decorated camels,

14. From the sword of Sa'ada the bright-faced one.
