1. Who will protect me from one with a moonlike beauty
Walking proudly like a tender sapling?

2. Who will prevent me from passion for one with languorous eyes
Whose glance unravels the work of Fate?

3. If you saw his cheek, no matter how it appeared,
You would see a blossom by the river.

4. If you saw his buttocks in his pants,
You would witness a tawny in a dusty-colored.

5. My tribe, the Aamiris, their home is Aamir
Their abode between barren land and sheep-grazing land.

6. The black-eyed ones dwell in my heart though far from my sight
Keeping me awake though I pretend to slumber.

7. My friend, how long will this
Spending my life in vain desires continue?

8. Whenever a lightning flash lights the barren tracts
My yearning for the people of barren lands diminishes.

9. Whenever a caravan passes by the sand dunes
I say “O caravan, perhaps you bring news of me!”

10. Many men claim poetry though
A single drop from my rain drowns them.

11. Neither Zuheir in his rhymes overtakes me
Nor does Jarir gallop in my tracks.

12. None who draws from a rich well
Is like one who carves verse from stone.

13. I am the best and the first of the people
The elite of night at the break of dawn

14. And when they praise their likes
My praise is in the verdant companion

15. And on Mount Tur, twisting and winding
I see the fire of Moses in the folded darkness

16. The Sheikh Hajj's cloak, well done!
It is from pilgrimage and from struggle

17. That is God's secret and the pole
Who is God's shadow above mankind

18. He surpassed the competing saints, indeed left them behind
Surpassing the excellent steed in speed

19. Not every growth of earth bears sweet fruit
He shows distraction in the world, and how much

20. Clarity lies beneath that turbidity!
And how many in passionate love are fearful

21. And the sought-after and cowardly and valiant
And how many who gained wealth while asleep

22. And strivers who did not attain victory
With divine aid one has soared who has soared

23. Lord of profit though no travel occurred
Dukhan saved him from the rule

24. Of one who need not fear its return from the east
O namesake of Mustafa, O sincere devotee

25. Faithful in hardship and in ease
You are solace for the son of Husayn

26. Comfort in a weakened, embraced arm
His uncle, his companion, his confidante

27. Can an eye tire of the pleasure of seeing him?
From your creation the Merciful brought forth

28. Abundance in abundance in abundance
From their light the Merciful forged

29. A gem in a gem in a gem
Our power, our chiefs are our armaments

30. You two, our refuge in peril
So you were granted success and remain

31. A lightning bolt in a rumbling, pouring cloud
