6. How many passions above those mounts
Melt me, and my insides melt because of them.

7. With the coquetry of her eyes, a lover like her
Is harmed, while his opinion is right.

8. Soft are her front teeth, yet I see death
Where the front teeth are white.

9. My friends blame me, not knowing
That true love is a narrow path.

10. They say repent, for thirty is the limit,
But I said, even one forty does not repent.

11. Why would I be content with misers' purpose,
If Shoaib does not satisfy me?

12. I called on the horses of poetry, saying come O friend,
And they came, some accompanied and some beloved.

13. So I said to the Lord of Taghlib and the daughter of Wael,
The most honorable rhymes, calling and you answer.

14. From the rhymes of Abul-Izz shone lightning,
With it thunder gallops and clouds pour.

15. In the valley of Al-Dawm, I left pastures,
While the vastness of earth narrowed, and it widened.
