2. And Layla's specter, from al-โAamiriya, visited me,
With disheveled hair above, and a wrap below,

ุฑูุฉ ุฒุงุฑูู
ูุฃุณูููู ุงููุนุณุงุก ูุงูุจุงู ุงุนููุงู
3. Yearning from the lush Najd, and my home is al-Ghour,
And I do yearn for him, though far away he roams,

ูุฅููู ูุงููุงู ุนูู ุจูุนูุฏู ู

4. So I met him openly, from every side,
And greeted him when his face appeared smiling,

5. And he laid me down on the pillows of his hair,
Clusters like grapes, and let me taste his mouth,

6. And I likened him to the full moon, though he's unlike it,

7. And I spent the night complaining of our separation, while he held me close,
And he complained, though I hugged his bosom,

8. When my eyes strayed into the tresses of his hair,
He guided me back with a flash from his ringlets,

11. And call him O Fadhl, O Fadhl, and be content,
With him above all mankind, for God has compensated,

12. And this is Jamal al-Din, though I fear,
His early traits, those are his gifts,

ุง ุดูุฆุช ูุฐู
ุจูุงุฏุฑูู ุชูุฎูุดู ูุชูู ุนุทุงูุงู
13. And Sanhan, Sanhan ibn โAmr like its scabbard,
Brought honor, wealth, family, and status through it,

ุฏูุง
ูุนุฒ ุจูุง ูุงูู
ุงู ูุงูุฃู ูุงูุฌุงู
14. And where is Fadhlโs equal, none has his patience,
Nor his might when angry, nor gifts like his,

15. And what face is bashful like his face,
So his life was honored by the Lord of the Worlds,

16. He built the glory of Masโud and the glory of Muzaffar,
And the tribeโs entirety depends on them, not its chiefs,

17. Protector of Sanhanโs sanctuary, he wards off,
The enemiesโ faces, may God not weaken his right hand,

18. If one called beyond seven seas,

19. And if one lived to see Fadhlโs demise,
He would not greet morn like a slave, with Fadhl his master,

20. We heard of him until we saw his generosity,
Which exceeded what was said, like sight exceeds hearsay,

21. The finest poetry we versified in his glory,
And the happiest day for us is the day we meet him,

22. Manners that spare one the pains of youth,

ูููุณู ุจูุง ุฃูุฏุงุญู ููุฏุงู

23. And vast plains, with an open heart,
That always delights his friends, and annoys his enemies,
ูขูฃ. ูุณูุญ ุฑุญูุจ ุงูุณูุญ ูุงูุตุฏุฑ ู

24. We wear the cloak of Ibn Muzaffarโs son,
As men, and give Fadhlโs overflowing gifts,

25. May Jamal al-Din remain our pillar,
For none remains of the twisted paths but him.
