1. O Hind, it is time to depart, so prepare provisions,
Even if it was just a short trip that causes sighing,

2. O Hind, I did not deny loving you so do not deny me,
My right, and I did not reject you so do not reject me,

3. I am your neighbor with the lightning marks, and your family
Are my family, and your people at Ramah are my abode,

4. And I made a covenant with you that the stranger rests his side with you,
Yet I see the side as if no covenant was made,

5. Do not turn away, for my agony increases if you turn away,
Do not distance yourself, for my affliction grows if you distance yourself,

6. You kept me awake with worries and fell asleep,
How can a sleeper feel sympathy for the sleepless?

7. You promised you would not betray me, my confidant,
Why then did you not fulfill some of that promise?

8. How lonesome are homelands without inhabitants,
No one to console me, no hand to help the troubled!

9. You left me to misfortunes after you,
A target, and you released my heart from my hands,

10. They protected the dust of my horse’s hooves,
While those beautiful camels went far away,

11. I have not seen such nights of calamities
That if they come between lovers increase their agony,

12. Alas! There is no solace for the afflicted after you,
No succor, and no tears soothe the afflicted,

13. O you who departed, I wish you had let me accompany you
Traveling the barren deserts in caravans,

14. If you come to Yathrib, gather some earth for me
From the dwelling place of Ahmad's descendants,

15. Hover around that grave and gather some earth,
At night, the dew sings to it instead of the caller to prayer,

16. Say, O Messenger of God, is there a moment you could glance
To dispel the darkness of this gloomy night?

17. Say, O Messenger of God, if you would just turn
The wolf would graze safely among the camels,

18. Do not forget your weak nation even if they forget you,
You are far above ignoring the helpless who cry out,

19. Surely the Hashimite Prophet defends those who,
If oppressed, would not oppress the oppressor,

20. Save the remnants of a nation now scattered
In periods after periods, each utterly ruined,

21. Intercede for them, make their country prosperous,
For a servant hopes for favor from his master,

22. You made a pact with us, O people of Yathrib, to host
The guest of Bakkah and the clouds bursting with rain,

23. As if they are Nu'man who was driven out, an outcast,
Like all others who were outcast and banned,

24. On the east side, east of Al-Awja,
Is a light that guides people to find their way,

25. For there is the most noble plot of holy land
In which is buried Muhammad and his descendants,

26. Whenever you wish, it is like the radiance of a planet,
Whenever you wish, it is like a sea with billowing waves,

27. Before you is a grave, draw near it,
The grave of Hussein - what matchless person!

28. Alas for them - those graves and the people in them!
Martyrs who did not hesitate to face death!

29. In their courage, wisdom, and care for the poor
The branches are fragrant with the scent of that family,

30. Our masters, guides, and intercessors
When Adam left intercession for the next life

31. Call upon them in times of distress, whenever
Difficulty constricts, and in them you will find help from the distressed

32. The heavy clouds pour down by their status,
And water springs forth from solid rock,

33. If only the jurist would see - or, the sheikh - whom we complain of
For the misery of this burdensome time,

34. The land is barren, and its vegetation withered,
Sustenance is scarce in Magoor and Manjed,

35. The sheikh has wearied of the affliction in his life
And the child wishes he was never born!

36. Oh Ahmad, Abu Bakr and Omar,
A voice calling out, its abundance nourishing the echo,

37. Quickly, to the sound of the cry! For you
Are generous, and the generous emulate noble deeds,

38. You are our loved ones, and we are what
We were before defeat and extinction in time

39. Our neighbors are you, and to you we flee,
The rights of a neighbor are bound to be fulfilled,

40. Hold out your hands to the Merciful on our behalf -
Will He refrain when hands are outstretched?

41. O Lord, send down mercy and kindness,
Not barren rain in this arid time,

42. Rain profusely, rain abundantly, rain copiously,
Leaving the land lush green meadows,

43. Its torrents roaring, its floods rumbling
Like the rumbling of the virile camel stallion,

44. And it pours from the udder after it had run dry
And crops year after year grow more abundant,

45. And the world returns to its former prosperity
With people rejoicing and singing joyfully,

46. God has said in His verses that hardship
Is followed by ease - and your Lord speaks the truth,

47. Do not neglect us while we stay awake - never!
We disavow what is said about you and deny it,

48. Either you travel but your love does not leave us
Or you stay but your spirit does not remain still,

49. As long as Ali son of Hussein is left for us
A thousand like him will suffice for one!

50. Upon you always is the greatest greeting from us,
Lasting forever, pacing with time,
