1. I swayed like a willow branch blown by the wind
And cried out like a lost gazelle calling for its herd

2. And started to gesture for peace with my hand
While my henna-dyed palm concealed my envy

3. I looked upon the bee suckling from the acacia
While the night hid beneath the veil of the brightest sun

4. As if her beauty's splendor was a sculpture
Of silver kneaded with pure honey

5. Or a hidden pearl, blended
With the soul's passion and the melted liver's love

6. Charming the eyes with its beautiful, embellished
Radiance and arranged perfection

7. Her delight stole minds and she became
A loved one whom desire constantly revels in

8. Oh Lord, be our ally at the valley's bend
Among the people without the victorious tribe

9. I glanced at her reproachfully but she turned
Away from me and said you do not make me happy

10. So I started praising her charming eyes and lips
And her brow and cheeks aflame

11. And I hoped for conversation, saying is there
A drink, O people of this stream?

12. Not water did I seek, but so her hand might
Reach out so that my hand touches hers

13. So she brought it quickly as if she were
A sun extending a blazing star

14. From the beauty's glance I stole a look
That severed my heartstrings without a blade

15. If Zainab Bint Malik proposes to educate me
In etiquette and knowledge, I will start over

16. The poetry is mine and the beauty hers
While praise for good work belongs to Ahmad bin Mohammed

17. The moon of perfection, desire of all hopefuls
Treasure of wishes, refuge for all who stray

18. The Preserver chose his pen for the people
A sword against enemies, never sheathed

19. He raised monuments in the sphere of highness
Ranks built upon the crown star

20. The pride of nostrils unto the glory of Khuzaima
And through Fatima and the Successor and Ahmad

21. He is son of the saintly pole and their essence
And beauty of their totality and their meadow of prophecy

22. The Sheikh Al-Ahdal his blessed grandfather
And his father the lofty branch of the sublime ancestries

23. Glory and abundant generosity are his cloak
And his banner and robe in the honored shrine

24. When the sparks of his might flare up
They blot out the false misguided one's prospects

25. A young man who visits his courtyard of generosity
For the arrival of a sea of virtues still increasing

26. May God keep the father of virtues for he
Shows kindness whose flow is endless

27. He did not destroy the world by its fleetingvanities
Except to grow what will be harvested tomorrow

28. O you who falsely boast of pride in his achievements
Do you know or are you overstepping?

29. The sons of the two Hasans surpassed you
In the seven oft-repeated verses and the authenticated hadiths

30. A generosity shining in their features
As lamps shine for the guided in the darkness

31. And praises transcending all praises so the people
Of virtue vie in aspiring to them

32. If you let Ahmad preempt you in responding
When you know not save what you pretend to know

33. You collected by his rank of virtue something like
What you brought together of dispersed letters in the ABCs

34. He is the bliss of the world and its people's guardian
And its salvation from every woeful tribulation

35. My lord, I came to you from a distant land
And hoped in you, for you are the goal of my quest

36. I sought from you a touchstone to erase
The darkness of a book blackened by sins

37. So help me with a hand so lengthy my hand stretches
And property watering my barren heart

38. And bestow provisions after that, amounts reaching
Well-fed and wayfaring poet and singer

39. That I may return from you with the best I wished for
Secure, trusting your ever-flowing generosity

40. And I will remain in God's care and shelter
Shaded by eternal bliss

41. Where no hopeful is disappointed, no harm
Feared, and no door to attaining is barred
