2. And devote yourself to the abode that is in the stony ground
And leave yearning without the lightning of delight

3. And lament the time of playfulness in its meadows
And the stands of the bowmen and the youths

ูุงูู ุงููููุงุช ููุงููุชูุงู
4. The days of Layla al-Amiriyya my neighbor
And her tent pegged at the end of my tether

ููุฎุจุงุคู ุงูู
ูุถุฑูุจ ููุฏ ุนูุงูู
5. And the quarter closely guarded from harm
While I forget people and time forgets me

6. Oh if only my poetry knew and time had dispersed

8. Alas that was a time of intimate friendship
That it forgot or left behind or will leave me

9. They said, โForget passion,โ and I replied to them
โHow far is recollection from forgetfulness!โ

10. Or how could we forget in the twisted valleys and our quarters
Sham and the quarters of the two Najds, Omani

11. And their life and features that delighted me
In the prime of youth, though they are my neighbors

12. The breeze blew gently to my dear one at dawn
When a delicate branch embraced the tender stems

ุณุญุฑ ุงูุนุงูู ูุงุนู
ุงูุงุบุตุงู
13. And watered the meadow of the dwellings, so they smiled
With white acacia and red oleander

ุนู ุงุจูุถ ููู ูุฃุญู
ุฑ ูุงูู
14. And the leaves of the doves fluttered in ardour
A nape inclined with the melodies of passion

15. And I wept for my homelands and quarters of love
When in the days of youth I revived homelands

16. And sought borrowed rain in its generosity
From the bounty of Abdullah, the benefactor

17. I mean the guardian - where is the chosen guardian?
Of pure heart, elite of the Merciful

ุตุงูู ุงูุณูุฑูุฑูุฉ ุตููุฉ ุงูุฑูุญู

18. Sword of righteousness, hand of charity, youth of my father
Bakr, protector of the honorable and guests

ุงุญ ููุชู ุฃูุจู
ุจูุฑ ุญู
ู ุงููุฑุจุงุก ููุงูุถููุงู
19. A sea surging, rich for the seeker of riches
And a serpent striking like the strikes of `Uqyan

20. Bearing burdens and guarding the sanctity of Islam
And calling to faith

21. Fasting midmornings and vigil keeping night devotions
With glorious Quran

ุชูุฌุฏ ุงู

ุญูุฏุฌู ุงูุธูู
ุงุช ุจุงููุฑุขู
22. He rose, chaste in religion, peerless in majesty
Ascending and rising, not matched by a second
ูขูข. ุฃูุถุญู ุนูููู ุงูุฏูู ูุฑุฏ ุฌููุงูุฉ
ููุนูู ููููุณู
ู ุฃู ููุงุณ ุจูุซุงูู
23. When I heard of him, I heard of the incomparable
And when I saw him - behold! - the two planets

ููุฑุฃูุชู ูุงุฐุง ูู ุงูุซููุงู
24. So I found all goodness in the interior of excellence
And met all people in one man

25. The sun is embarrassed by the brilliance of his brow
And the sea drowns between five fingers

ููุงูุจุญุฑ ูุบุฑู ุจูู ุฎู
ุณ ุจูุงู
26. Delegations enjoyed his court, perplexed
Were these lands subjugated or gardens of paradise?

27. And they circled devotedly around him as they circle
Around the House and its corners on hajj

28. Oh questioner about him, rely on him for he is
The secret of existence and joy of the age

29. He grows between Khuwwa and `Amwama
Two full moons rising equally

30. Two full moons appearing on the horizon of loftiness
Two lofty mountains, impenetrable

31. He placed Nayim and Ibn Abdullah in his mysteries
The light of divine guidance

ุฃูุณุฑุงุฑู ููุฑ ุงููุฏูุงูุฑุจุงูู
32. So their pride and guidance became immense
What excellent stars and moons are the two of them!

33. To God belongs praise for his unmatched station
He rose above peers and comrades

34. With the majesty of forefathers, uncles, and brothers
And brothers

35. His blessings encompass all Muslims
Like rain covering all lands

ู ุณุงุฆุฑ ุงูุจูุฏุงู
36. And he has noble deeds, some of which
Gently reconcile water and fire

ุงุช ูุคูู ุจุนุถูู
ุง
ุจุงููุทู ุจูู ุงูู
ุงุก ููุงูููุฑุงู
37. He gestures to the sky with a glance
And is answered before a blink of the eye
ูฃูง. ููููููุฏ ูุดูุฑ ุฅููู ุงูุณู
ุงุก ุจุทุฑูู
ููุฌุงุจ ูุจู ุชุตุงูุญ ุงูุงุฌูุงู
38. And with Godโs light he sees a discernment
That cannot be seen with two eyes

ูู ูุฑุงุณุฉ

39. It is he whose banner and protection is Godโs might
In private and public
ูฃูฉ. ูููููู ุงูููุฐู ุชูููู ุงูุงูู ุดุนุงุฑู
ููุฏุซุงุฑู ูู ุงูุณุฑ ูุงูุงุนูุงู
40. A lion who assaults calamities with his might
And continually makes the meadow of goodness verdant
ูคู . ุฎุฑู
ููุตูู ุนููู ุงูุฎุทูุจ ุจุจุฃุณู
ูููุฑูุฏ ุฑูุถ ุงูุฎูุฑ ูู ุฃููุงู
41. A rain cloud from which rain is sought through his face
And through him good spreads everywhere

42. With love of him souls come alive, for he is
To them like the spirit to bodies

43. We dedicate our praises to him and so
Poetry takes on beautiful meanings through him

44. And the goodness of his praise delights poets

45. I will keep thanking his bounty, and whenever
His hands stretch out to me, so my tongue stretches

ุทุงููุช ููุฏุงู ุนููู ุทุงู ููุณุงูู
46. My master, I came to you while calamities frown
And fate mocks my inclinations

ูููุงู ุฌุฆุชู ููุงูุฎุทูุจ ุนููุงุจุณ
ููุงูุฏููุฑ ูุตุฑู ูุงุจู ูููุงูู
47. My time treats me with enmity and my debt has dwindled
Like the twilight of dawn that persists in fading

ุดุฑู ุฃุฏู
ู ุซููุงู
48. And the cure of poverty that does not leave my abode
While I do not have the power to drive it away

ูุฒูู

ุง ูู ุจุณุทูุชู ุนูู ูุฏุงู
49. So take me under your care and through your bounty reduce my stumbling
And reduce the turns of fate's afflictions
ูคูฉ. ูุชูููู ูุฃูู ุจุฌูุฏู ุนุซุฑูุชู
ูุฃูู ููุจ ููุงุฆุจ ุงูุญุฏุซุงู
50. And look upon me with an eye of your kindness, a glance
With which I revive my hopes and improve my affairs
ูฅู . ูุงูุธุฑ ุฅูููุจุนูู ูุทูู ูุธุฑุฉ
ุฃุญูู ุจูุง ุฃูู
ูู ูุฃุตูุญ ุดุงูู
51. And extend your hand to me and erase my poverty with riches
And frustrate the nose of those who rebuke me

ุฏูู ุจูุฏุงู ูุงู
ุณุญ ุจุงูุบูู
ูููุฑู ูุงุฑุบู
ุงูู ู
ู ูุดูุงูู
52. Hopefully if you honor me you will revive me
And the Lord of so-and-so and so-and-so

ุช ุฑุจ ููุงูุฉ ููููุงู
53. And my status will remain in the pomegranates and my face
My sword arm in a fight and my tusks
ูฅูฃ. ููุจููุช ุฌุงูู ูู ุงูุฑู
ุงู ูููุฌูุชู
ููุจุฏู ููุณูููู ูู ุงูุนุฏุง ููุณูุงูู
54. Submit, a lofty refuge whose shade we take shelter in
And help that is complete among people and repels

55. In the dwellings of guests from different towns
Generous, neighbor of the vulnerable without disdain
