1. They pitched tents on the green hill
Between the garden of Hajar and quarry

2. And took shade on the ground and quenched their thirst
From the harmonious gushing spring

3. And the meadow of beauties turned green when
The heavy clouds with pouring rain passed over it

4. As if its shaded pearls at dawn
Were scattered pearls when the breeze blows

5. Or do you not see the sweet sand grouse
Whose perfumed soul is comforted by the breeze

6. And the nightingale craves the Najdi breeze
That covers the gardens with ambergris and musk

7. Though souls differ in their nature
All hoped for what they never attained from life

8. And my guide looked at me kindly
Showing me what I had never seen before

9. Oh you who descended on the meadows no one but you
Carried affection and long remembrance with you

10. Ask the drinking companions when you return to them
Where the mounted party camped in the desert

11. Did they renew the covenant of Rama
Or did they chant in the valley the chant of oryx

12. Praise be to the caravan of Uyaynah
Equipped and preparing with fine camels

13. Cleaving the mirage of ambiguous horizons
Between Taibah and the Greatest Standing Place

14. And chanting love songs in the darkness of night
Yearning for the Enveloped and Covered One

15. Al-Abtihy the select among Ghālib’s kin
And Tāhir the pure warner and bearer of good tidings

16. The truthful guide, the trusted intimate
The preceding, advancing, delaying

17. And the son of maidens from Salim truly he
Possesses gravity, forbearance, of unmatched pedigree

18. His virtues filled time and his existence illuminated
The universe, so listen and behold

19. And blessings succeeded through him and multiplied
In ordered ranks up to the Bought One

20. This, O Muhammad, is your minaret, its lights
Rose with the light of the shining lamp

21. How the notables of Mecca envied you
Out of jealousy - can pebbles rival gems?

22. You are the secret of the Messengers and the best one to tread
The earth, from Munjid and Mughawwar

23. Your awe struck the pavilion of glory below you
Breaking the arrogant tyrant

24. And your stars rose to the summit and the
Sun of existence shone in your abundant fortune

25. And the lights of prophecy that encompassed
All that was hidden of secrets in the universe revealed themselves to you

26. And clouds protected you from the poison of slanderers
Outstretched above the shining full moon

27. And the gazelle surrendered her gaze averted
By your perfect beauty of unparalleled sight

28. And the wild beasts in the desert called you
By a name of recognition that was not denied

29. And by your palm the deaf pebbles glorified
And likewise the palm trunk on the day of the sermon

30. And the spider built its web on you
In the cave, imagining its path was clear

31. And Muqayri became your footprint in the earth
As thin as a dove’s feather leaving no trace

32. And you made the moon split, a miracle for those
Nomads you guided from misguidance to guidance

33. And the revelation praised you beyond
Enumerating your miracles, so give thanks

34. And your noble traits spread generosity, guidance,
Deferring others till the Gathering

35. Pride of majesty, awe, and loftiness
Intercession of progeny and the Abundant River

36. Oh delight of the world and protection of its people
Against every frowning disaster

37. Be my aid against the woes of the two abodes
And let me attain the season of my hopes

38. Make my praise of you a connection
Between me and you, O Exalted in Pride

39. Say: You, O Most Merciful, and all whom
You have taken under your protection and covenant

40. And to those who befriend and show me kindness
With goodness, O best of worshippers, give glad tidings

41. Repel with your power the throats of my enviers
Forever, and stand by me wherever you are

42. If I call upon you in need, then answer
If I seek victory through your name, give victory

43. Upon you, O flag of guidance, may God send blessings
As long as the morning rays shine from the horizon

44. And upon the refined, noble stars, the
Companions of goodness, for the discriminating
