1. I lament to you my sighs and sorrows
As oft as I repeat and begin

2. My son, has illness made you suffer long?
Would that I could ransom you if a father could ransom his son

3. My son, I am powerless
But I extend to you the hand of the son of Amina

4. If distress closes in on me and you
The vast glory of Muhammad is not too narrow for me and you

5. He is the succor called upon in need
Without him existence would have no cause

6. He whose authority and exaltation are glorious
The sun of prophethood, the protected guide

7. He is a cloud of tender mercy, its shade a feast day
And it rains bounty on every monotheist

8. He is the authority of judgments and wisdom
Whose brilliant dawns are guidance for the guided

9. A moon descending in lineage from Hashim
In secret and publicly of greatest renown

10. His praises have filled time and accelerated
Meteors of glory for the aspiring and desiring

11. Compassionate to his nation, merciful, caring
Gently affectionate to those devoted to him

12. In life we hope he will help our purpose prevail
And in the afterlife we take refuge in his intercession

13. He who in the blink of an eye arrived
To open every closed door in proximity

14. His is superiority, intercession and lofty grace
Virtue, favor and truthful position

15. The messengers assemble beneath his banner’s shade
His Kawthar their heavenly drink

16. He is the mountain of refuge from adversities in his might
By him we climb above the tyrannous times

17. He made excellence necklaces for heads
And built praises on the brides of tombs

18. Those seeking intercession through his eminence
He wards from them every miserable plight

19. The cloud rained generously on its Lord
Goods never before in the valley of al-Baqee

20. It watered the sides of a holy meadow
Protected in the shade of that mosque

21. There the souls of the pious stand vigil
Yearning, O praised one, melting the liver

22. Blessed is Taibah where there settled
The sun of glory outshining the most fortunate sun

23. He lodged in the place which thereby gained sanctity
And erased the corruption of all that was blackened

24. He learned in the shade of the cloud and sated thirst
From that most generous flowing breast

25. And the sapling inclined toward him while pebbles
In his palm narrated the verified hadith

26. He is my equipment, my pillar, my treasure
My victory, my savior, my supporter

27. O master of both creations, be my fortune
For, my master, time has not been kind to me

28. This is your namesake Ahmad, anxious and concerned
Will you neglect your namesake Ahmad?

29. Suffering has touched him reducing him to tears
Cutting my liver, though my hopes are fixed on you

30. So ask the Merciful to look on him with mercy
In all-encompassing wellness and eternal pardon

31. And so pardon the servant ar-Rahim his guilt
From Hellfire’s heat, blazing inferno

32. And upon you, O Allah, bless what the morning breeze carries
Of Taibah’s perfume from the aromatic wet branches

33. And on all your companions and whoever
Loves the memory of that blessed gathering
