1. Letters with meanings, or gems in knots
That mimic the radiant stars,

2. Clouds knit with stitches of rhythm opened
Their rhymes into flowers in the meadows of books.

3. They roam with the souls of praise, beautifying them,
Ascending with them to the peaks of glories.

4. So those, though faraway lands or near,
Are freshly promised to the emigrant beloved.

5. Brides who none may marry but the refined,
The generous, nor are loved but by the daring.

6. If thought leads them, they give to the well-mannered
Allurements lovelier than contemporary garments.

7. The care of meanings’ light shines in them,
Striking examples amid gatherings.

8. They string from the prose of thoughts necklaces
That ornament the excellence of all the generous.

9. They spread for the youth from the fold of manliness
Morals’ virtues and the beauty of intimacy.

10. If veiled in covers, charms peek out
From behind the curtains.

11. If unlocked in the cosmos, their seal’s musk
Would perfume every Najd and depression.

12. I chose them for the Hashimite Muhammad,
Praiseworthy of efforts, best of present and past,

13. A prophet who came while people were in ignorance,
Plunging in a sea of polytheism overflowing,

14. Led astray in their tyranny, blindly they erred,
Passions cast them without a victor.

15. So he extended over them the shade of guidance,
And guided every lost soul to the path.

16. He established the means of salvation, while they were
On the brink of an abyss, to save the stumbler.

17. He has the miracles of revelation, not a soothsayer’s talk
As they falsely claimed, nor a poet’s words.

18. Above the slander they fabricate against Allah
Of prohibiting the seas,

19. And the abomination of idols, wine, and gambling,
And the tyranny of statues and profligate riffraff.

20. We by him are of the best nation,
Upon the best religion, manifest and transcendent.

21. He guided us to the straight path by his guidance
And showed us the light of truth by his enlightenment.

22. And taught us the rulings and rectitude as a mercy,
Protecting us from tribulations’ rotations.

23. He quenched the plains of goodness and blessed precincts,
Watering the gardens of splendor.

24. Sanctuaries that please Allah by treading their soil,
Wherein burdens fall from every laden one.

25. And a land wherein are for the Hashimite glories
That bring us the best of those glories.

26. So O visitor of the beloved Muhammad’s soul,
I bid with my soul and family, from lover to visitor:

27. When your eyes see Ahmad’s meadow,
Therein are the gardens of eternity, so pride yourself.

28. And kissing the earth of that beloved reverently,
Upon the best tombs in the best cemeteries.

29. Greetings when he returns to the sands and pebbles
Where violets and raindrops grow.

30. Double upon his decades and hundreds
Seventy thousand, then redouble and increase,

31. And say O intercessor of sinners, “Give aid
To the supplicant hoping to relieve the stumbler.

32. He came calling upon your glory, O Muhammad,
While you are generous, your bounty endless.

33. What doubt is there, my Master, about you, that disappoints?
No desperate seeker comes to you deprived.

34. So I am near or far your companion,
Nor do I criticize you in any assembly.”

35. So be my rescuer from the harm of life and my ally,
My succor against the aggressor and betrayer.

36. If the Plain crowds on the Day with people on every side,
Say “Fear not, servant, the emigrant Rahimi.”

37. Do good, honor for his sake,
When told to intercede for the people of grave sins.

38. For we have on the Day of Return no provision
Without your auspicious face, best provisions.

39. The hope of seekers for the goal of wealth
Is naught but you, nor sought but you with gain.

40. May Allah bless you whenever lightning flashes
Or clouds rumble in the pitch dark night,

41. A prayer transcending the sun in light and loftiness,
Its downpour watering the plains of meadows,

42. From the first determined continual
To endless eternity, again and again,

43. Singling you out, O singular in existence, bowing
To your House, the moons, your noble kindred.
