1. Turn away from melancholic youth and turn aside,
And separation is ever so long, so turn aside,

2. Much sickness arose so I went seeking a cure,
Whence comes healing, and the nurse makes one ill?

3. If they make lawful shedding my blood through separation,
On Judgement Day they will have no argument to rebut,

4. Stand at Mata'a for their rebellion, even if only
As long as it takes the vexed one to rinse his mouth,

5. They were my neighbors before the separation, and only
Fate decreed the separation, I neither approved nor did they,

6. Woe to the longing of lovers from the twisting pains,
If only through separation they could have compensated,

7. By God they rode off one morning at daybreak
While the sun scorches and the small camels trot,

8. They left leading their camels from Yathrib
With thunder moaning and lightning bolts flashing,

9. And clouds covering the meadows like mallets
With gold leaf peeling off from which dazzles,

10. Its homesteads majesty and generosity,
And the moon and the vast wide sea,

11. A sea with surging, foaming waves in which
No weakness, proudly the arrogant frolics,

12. A moon descending in lineage from the Hashimites
For which ranks are lowered in esteem,

13. They lined up the elite of honor which
In God fulfills what He wills and annuls,

14. He prohibited all baseness to humanity
And urged honorable deeds and loyalty,

15. He was devoted to those loyal to enemies
For God's sake he loved and hated,

16. So his guest spreads across meadows, his neighbor
Is most noble, his affluence boundless,

17. He honors ascetics with his guidance
He is stern beneath the armor incited,

18. He has an open heart inclined toward guidance
And turned away from misguidance and straying,

19. And for him is the Hanifite faith most agreeable
The religion of Abraham and every imposed faith,

20. By the master of mankind, O you whose guidance
Is a clear light among people never dimming,

21. And prayers upon him are a duty
Required of servants till the end of time,

22. Many clear miracles spoke of your favor
So for you everything submitted and turned aside,

23. I call upon you in my place most reverent, in
A core of longing, heated and fevered,

24. So bestow mercy upon your servant Ar-Rahim
And fulfill by your grace what calamities rend,

25. On a day when the sky is folded away
And hellfire rages and creations stand aside,

26. Make me drink at the basin whose traits
Beyond it, only milk and white honey,

27. And look upon me with the eye of your kindness, I am
Hoping for your vast generosity exposed,

28. And permit a longing one to visit, he is not
Able to rise above major sins,

29. For how many a man you drew near after being distant,
Then fate brought him racing back swift,

30. Time has passed and none reverted, and many
Misfortunes transpired while the soul still hopes,

31. And upon you may God send blessings, O you whose
Intercession for any sin the eulogies rebut,
