1. A movement stirred in my heart, so it would not settle
For those who settled in the outskirts of Mecca
١. وَجد تحرك في قَلبي فَما سكنا
فَقَدا لمن بنواحي مكة سكنا
2. They are my heart's beloved, my hope
They are my soul's bond, so they settled and homed
٢. أحبة هم مني قَلبي وهم أَملي
وَهم علاقة نَفسي اذنأوا وطنا
3. I attached my hopes to the caravan the next morning they marched
As if a soul had parted from the body in the caravan
٣. علقت في الركب آمالي غداة غدوا
كأن في الركب روحا فارق البدنا
4. My tears flowed individually after they left, and not once
Did the patience's compassion bend when it inclined
٤. أَجرى دموعي فرادى بعدهم وَثنى
وماثنى العذل عطف الصبر حين ثَنى
5. I wish an imagination's specter would visit, perhaps
The specter would beseech the glance that battled weariness
٥. أودّ طيف خيال لَو يَزور وَهَل
يَستَعطف الطيف طرف حارب الوسنا
6. How much have I said farewell, my heart, after they left
And it does not benefit me to have said farewell
٦. كَم قلت واخرنا للقلب بعدهم
وَلَيسَ يَنفَعني أَن قلت واخرنا
7. My heart's loved ones, may news come from your side
To the yearner who laments the ruins and edifices
٧. أَحباب قَلبي عَسى من نحوكم خبر
لِهائم يندب الاطلال وَالدمنا
8. Will time restore your nearness after determination?
After intentions perished, how much did it increase my suffering?
٨. وَهَل يعيد عَلى الدهر قربكم
بعد النَوى فنوا كَم زادَني شجنا
9. I am needless of the whole universe except you
And I have no independence from you, my masters
٩. غني غني عَن جَميع الكون غيركم
وَلَيسَ لي عَنكم يا مالكي غني
10. Hearts blended with affection before we reached
And if you are far, your secret is still with us
١٠. قلوب اِمتزجت بالود ما بلغت
وان بعدتم فَمَعنى سركم مَعنا
11. You are me and I am you, no wonder
That you are you, and in existence, you are me
١١. أَنتم أَنا وأَنا أَنتم وَلا عجب
أن كنتم أَنتم وأَنتم في الوجود أَنا
12. My soul is here after souls are there, and souls
There are the soul residing here
١٢. روحي هنا بعد أَرواح هناك وأَر
واح هناك هي الروح المُقيم هنا
13. I love you and love the place familiar
From you, and I ask about you from those who parted from us
١٣. أحبكم وأحب الدار آنسة
منكم واسأل عنكم من نأى ودنا
14. I wonder, is there room enough in the house
That the passing nights would return to us?
١٤. فَلَيتَ شعري هَل في الدار متسع
حَتّى تَعود اللَيالي الذاهبات لنا
15. Or would you pity, my loved ones, a liver
That almost melted in yearning and pining for you
١٥. أَم تَرحَمون أَحبابي جوى كبد
كادَت تَذوب اليكم لوعة وضنى
16. By the One whose pilgrims circumambulated His House
And what the prayer area, minbar and Mina contained
١٦. فَوالَّذي حجت الركبان كعبته
وَما حواه المصلى وَالنقا ومني
17. I did not change from the state of affection for you
Nor took off the love of your past, our foundation
١٧. ما حلت في الحب عَن حال الوداد لكم
وَلا خلعت لماضي حبكم رسنا
18. Sailing the seas of longing, taking as provision
Good reliance and contentment as ships
١٨. باخائضا غمرات الشوق متخذا
حسن التوكل زادا وَالرضا سفنا
19. Let the decrees run their course, and accept what was done
And conceal your love, and do not blame time
١٩. دَع المَقادير تَجري وارض ما فعلت
واكتم هواك وَلا تستعتب الزمنا
20. For merits lie deposited in dangers
So seek merits and make your soul the price
٢٠. ان الفَضائل في الاخطار مودعة
فاِبغ الفَضائل واجعل روحك الثمنا
21. And if passion wants disgrace from you, say:
"Death's rule in loving the beloved is my purpose"
٢١. وان أَراد الهَوى منك الهوان فقل
حكم المَنيَّة في حب الحَبيب منى
22. And the soul-taker takes souls in their presence
Where attendance is absent, and remaining is perishing
٢٢. وَالراح يَستَلب الارواح عندهم
حيث الحضور مغيب وَالبَقاء فنا
23. So preserve their love, and die in love of them as
A trustee over secrets, trustworthy
٢٣. فاحفظ هَواهم وَمت في حبهم كمدا
ان كنت حرا عَلى الاسرار مؤتمنا
24. For the universe stealthily derives its beauties from them
And religion wears joy and brilliance from them
٢٤. فالكَون مسترق منهم محاسنه
وَالدين يَلبس منهم بهجة وَسنا
25. Fragrant breezes of Damascus, convey to my master Umar
Greetings from a lover residing in Yemen
٢٥. أَرائح الشام بلغ سيدي عمرا
تحية من محب يسكن اليمنا
26. And praise to the Imam Ma'jid Ali's knowledge
He gave life to guidance, clarity, duty and traditions
٢٦. والثم يَمين امام ماجد علم
أَحيا الهدى وَالنَدى وَالفرض وَالسننا
27. Blessed is the face we suffice with tribulations for it
And by his prayer we seek relief from our concerns
٢٧. مبارك الوجه نَستَكفي الخطوب به
وَنَستقي بدعاه العارض الهتنا
28. My master, you are whom I want wherever you are, and how much
Did the slanderers prattle and say, "He worships an idol"?
٢٨. مَولاي أَنتَ مُرادي حيث كنت وَكَم
وَشي الوشاة وَقالوا عابد وَثنا
29. I do not thank time for shading me with its blessings
Unless it shows me your beautiful face
٢٩. لا أَشكر الدهر يَهدي ظل أَنعمه
إِليّ مالم يريني وَجهك الحسنا
30. So mention Abu Al-Qasim Al-Khati among your servants in
Those dwellings - how many fearful ones we secured
٣٠. فاذكر أَبا القاسم الخاظى عبيدك في
تلك المَساكن كم من خائف أمنا
31. And connect with mercy Abd Al-Rahim and sprinkle
Upon him of your wing - how many favors we bestowed upon him
٣١. وَصل بمرحمة عَبد الرَحيم ورش
منه الجناح فَكَم أَولَيته مننا
32. From me, peace of Allah upon you, for as long as
The parchments of fever rustled and the youth of morning bent a branch
٣٢. مني عليك سَلام اللَه ما سجعت
وَرق الحمى وَثني روح الصبا غصنا
