1. Ramadan has come, though our leaders
Add more fasting that burdens the soul.
١. أَتَى رَمَضَانٌ غَيْرَ أَنَّ سَرَاتَنَا
يَزِيدُونَهُ صَوْمًا تَضِيقُ بِهِ النَّفْسُ
2. They fast as Muslims do in daylight,
And as Christians when sunset turns night.
٢. يَصُومُونَ صَوْمَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ نَهَارَهُ
وَصَوْمَ النَّصَارَى حِينَمَا تَغْرُبُ الشَّمْسُ
