1. O my daughter, if you wish for beauty
That adorns body and mind,

2. Then reject firmly the habit of wantonness,
For beauty of the soul is highest and noblest.

3. Craftsmen can make roses, but
No crafted rose can equal one grown in a meadow.

4. God's dye makes the soul radiant,
Exalted is God, Mighty and Sublime.

5. Then be like the sun shining equally
On all people, high and low.

6. Be gentle and kind to the wealthy,
And give goodness and favor to the poor.

7. The adornment of the face is to see in it
Nobility that dazzles eyes and is excellent.

8. Let modesty be your head-scarf,
For it best suits the generous and noble.

9. A girl who abandons modesty
Will have no share of happiness.

10. Cloak yourself in the chastity of your soul,
All other cloaks fade and wear away.

11. And when you see poverty, be generous
With the downpour of beneficence.

12. The tears of beneficence are lush on the cheek
And lovelier than gems and more precious.

13. And look into your conscience if you wish
To see souls revealed and unveiled.

14. This is my advice to my daughters
And dear girls, do not deny a father's request.
