9. Frolicking with flowers, joyful
Gentle in shade and sun

10. In shades around which a river flows
Neither dammed nor obstructed

11. In your hands the wind you direct
However you wish without stop

12. Wake up Suleiman of time
The self has no price

13. Send the melodies singing
Oh life of the eye and ear

14. Sing of the world and its beauty
Of the universe's order and laws

15. Of the valleys you descended in
And cities you saw

16. Of dawn's flowers as they
Rose from the sleep of night

17. Of a heart whose love
Keeps true to the pact, unbetraying

18. Everything in the world is beautiful
What is there not beautiful?

19. Creator of the universes, all His creation
Vast in kindness and blessing

20. I had a beloved whom fate
Took from me and took me from

21. I, time's length, remember him
He, time's length, remembers me

22. We built a nest of passion
Washed clean of the stains of time

23. His love was most sincere
As was my loyalty and purity

24. Birds envied him
The paradise of dwelling and envied me

A life safe like al-Musta`sim's days

26. But time's hand cast him away
As if the nest never was

27. He flew from around me leaving me
To yearning, confusion, and grief

28. And withdrew from me while still
Yearnings of passion keep striking me

29. And he left while ardour precedes him
And my tears precede me

30. If you visit his abode bird
Among blooming and ripening fruits

31. And see al-Timsah agitated
Leaping like frightened horses

32. The north wind toyed with it
Raging at the ships

33. Sing to the birds altogether
Of beauty, charm, and grace

34. And speak gently for death
May lie in tongues

35. Describe my passion's trials
And the pains my body narrowed around

36. Describe weeping eyes
That didn't protect from copious tears

37. O my friend, love brings distress
May God not afflict you with distress

38. If you see the eye sleeping
Watch for the awakening of strife!

39. Or if you see the stature veiled
Take whatever madness you wish

40. We enjoyed love a time
And suffered at the end of time!
