1. O maiden of Quraysh, come down from on high
I've stretched out my hands, so do not be stingy

١. فَتَاةَ الْقَرِيضِ، اهْبِطِي مِنْ عَلِ
مَدَدْتُ يَدَيَّ، فَلَا تَبْخَلِي

2. The climb has wearied the poet of verse
So if you're merciful, come down now and hear

٢. كَبَا بِفَتَى الشِّعْرِ طُولُ الصُّعُودِ
فَإِنْ كُنْتِ رَاحِمَةً فَانْزِلِي

3. Yearning for you as an old man might yearn
For the blithe laughter of days gone by

٣. يَحِنُّ إِلَيْكِ حَنِينَ الْمَشِيبِ
إِلَى ضَحِكَاتِ الصِّبَا الْمُخْضِلِ

4. You distracted Layla and her companions
Made them neglect righteousness and virtue

٤. سَلَا بِكِ لَيْلَى وَأَتْرَابَهَا
وَنَامَ عَنِ الْعَذْلِ وَالْعُذَّلِ

5. You captivated youth with your magic words
Else their eyes would not have been so distracted

٥. شَغَلْتِ فَتَاكِ بِسِحْرِ الْبَيَانِ
وَلَوْلَا عُيُونُكِ لَمْ يُشْغَلِ

6. He sees you in the moon when it's full
With your loose cascading curls unfurled

٦. يَرَاكِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فِي بَدْرِهِ
وَفِي شَعْرِهِ الْفَاحِمِ الْمُسْبَلِ

7. With every sigh the passion has flung
On the current of tears he has spilled

٧. وَفِي كُلِّ آهٍ رَمَاهَا الْهَوَى
عَلَى شَطِّ مَدْمَعِهِ الْمُرْسَلِ

8. He finds you in each radiant face
That has been burnished smooth and not dulled

٨. وَيَلْقَاكِ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ صَبِيحٍ
بِغَيْرِ الْمَلَاحَةِ لَمْ يُصْقَلِ

9. From you he hears the whisper of branches
And listens to the murmur of a brook

٩. وَمِنْ فِيكِ يَسْمَعُ نَجْوَى الْغُصُونِ
وَيُصْغِي إِلَى هَمْسَةِ الْجَدْوَلِ

10. You live in splendor, brightened with hope
That flutters about you, winged and thrilled

١٠. تَعِيشِينَ فِي زَاخِرٍ مِنْ ضِيَاءٍ
يُصَفِّقُ بِالْأَمَلِ الْمُقْبِلِ

11. Angels circle above this light
As birds flock round a watering hole

١١. تَحُومُ الْمَلَائِكُ مِنْ فَوْقِهِ
كَمَا حَامَ طَيْرٌ عَلَى مَنْهَلِ

12. We drank it in, forgetting life
And bitterness collected in its folds

١٢. رَوِينَا بِهِ فَنَسِينَا الْحَيَاةَ
وَمَا دِيفَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْحَنْظَلِ

13. We tasted a draft that disdained
To be sipped by singers or poets of old

١٣. وَذُقْنَا سُلَافًا أَبَتْ أَنْ تَرِفَّ
بِكَفِّ النُّوَاسِيِّ وَالْأَخْطَلِ

14. Though it takes life when imbibed
How much more if it's never been killed

١٤. إِذَا قُتِلَتْ أَحْيَتِ الشَّارِبِينَ
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا هِيَ لَمْ تُقْتَلِ

15. As if the bubbles on its surface
Were freshly gathered vines yet distilled

١٥. كَأَنَّ الْحَبَابَ عَلَى وَجْهِهَا
وُعُودٌ حَصَلْنَ وَلَمْ تَحْصُلِ

16. Return, return o maiden of Quraysh
I beg you, do not keep me waiting too long

١٦. عِدِينِي عِدِينِي فَتَاةَ الْقَرِيضِ
وَإِيَّاكِ إِيَّاكِ أَنْ تَمْطُلِي

17. Come let us kiss the face of spring
That brings glad tidings and blossoms anew

١٧. تَعَالَيْ نُقَبِّلُ وَجْهَ الرَّبِيعِ
بَشِيرِ الْمُنَى وَمُنَى الْمُجْتَلِي

18. Let us gather from its flowers at will
And revel in its velvet cloak outspread

١٨. وَنَجْمَعُ مِنْ زَهْرِهِ مَا نَشَاءُ
وَنَرْفُلُ فِي ثَوْبِهِ الْمُخْمَلِ

19. Come let us fly on the wings of thought
And soar wherever it may rise unfurled

١٩. تَعَالَيْ نَطِيرُ بِرِيشِ الْأَثِيرِ
وَنَعْلُو بِهِ حَيْثُمَا يَعْتَلِي

20. We'll pass like a phantom of dreams
That touched a turban but left no trace

٢٠. نَمُرُّ كَمَا مَرَّ طَيْفُ الْخَيَالِ
أَلَمَّ لِمَامًا وَلَمْ يَحْلُلِ

21. And while we converse with folk of the Hijaz
Your sweet voice sounds from Mosul

٢١. فَبَيْنَا نُحَدِّثُ أَهْلَ الْحِجَازِ
إِذَا صَوْتُكِ الْعَذْبُ فِي الْمَوْصِلِ

22. We'll greet the loyal Arab tribes
And let them hear the warble of the nightingale

٢٢. نُحَيِّي بَنِي الْعَرَبِ الْأَوْفِيَاءَ
وَنُسْمِعُهُمْ غَرَدَ الْبُلْبُلِ

23. Those are my people, crafters of glory
The grace of gatherings and valor's crest

٢٣. أُولَئِكَ قَوْمِي بُنَاةُ الْفَخَارِ
وَزَيْنُ الْمَحَافِلِ وَالْجَحْفَلِ

24. Were it not for broadcasting, the generous
Protectors of Arabness would be suppressed

٢٤. وَلَوْلَا الْإِذَاعَةُ عَاشَ الْكِرَامُ
حُمَاةُ الْعُرُوبَةِ فِي مَعْزِلِ

25. Broadcasting is guided by one sincere
To friendship and pledges, firmly held

٢٥. أَدَارَ الْإِذَاعَةِ مِنْ مُخْلِصٍ
عَنِ الْوُدِّ وَالْعَهْدِ لَمْ يَنْكُلِ

26. Happy birthday, your radiant years
And days of your thriving dawn unveiled

٢٦. هَنَاءً بِأَعْوَامِكِ الْمُشْرِقَاتِ
وَأَيَّامِ نَهْضَتِكِ الْحُفَّلِ

27. You were born and science held its secrets
Though you already grasped all that was veiled

٢٧. وُلِدْتِ وَلِلْعِلْمِ أَسْرَارُهُ
وَقَدْ كُنْتِ مِنْ سِرِّهِ الْمُعْضَلِ

28. You bestowed culture on those who thirsted
And but for your efforts, it would not have prevailed

٢٨. بَذَلْتِ الثَّقَافَةَ لِلظَّامِئِينَ
وَلَوْلَا يَمِينُكِ لَمْ تُبْذَلِ

29. You roused the drooping eyelid of dawn
With verses of revelation that you exhaled

٢٩. وَنَبَّهْتِ وَسْنَانَ جَفْنِ الصَّبَاحِ
بِآيٍ مِنَ الْكَلِمِ الْمُنْزَلِ

30. You sang until the sorrowful were consoled
And the ardent were calmed and forgot their pain

٣٠. وَغَنَّيْتِ حَتَّى تَعَزَّى الْحَزِينُ
وَقَرَّ الشَّجِيُّ وَهَامَ الْخَلِي

31. Melodies the arts never heard
In the chords of Isaac or the trills of Zulzal

٣١. تَرَانِيمُ مَا سَمِعَتْهَا الْفُنُونُ
بِأَوْتَارِ إِسْحَاقَ أَوْ زُلْزُلِ

32. And how you jested to revive souls
So it was fitting that you should jest and regale

٣٢. وَكَمْ قَدْ هَزَلْتِ لِتَشْفِي النُّفُوسَ
فَكَانَ مِنَ الْجِدِّ أَنْ تَهْزِلِي

33. Egypt has passed, ascending to the heavens
And rising high on the glorious minbar

٣٣. مَضَتْ مِصْرُ تَصْعَدُ نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ
وَتَسْمُو عَلَى مَسْبَحِ الْأَجْدَلِ

34. She is now in the garden of knowledge
And the fortress of regal honor and might

٣٤. وَأَضْحَتْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ فِي رَوْضَةٍ
وَمِنْ عِزَّةِ الْمُلْكِ فِي مَعْقِلِ

35. She roams through the history of her glories
And is adorned with her first pioneer

٣٥. تَتِيهُ بِتَارِيخِ أَمْجَادِهَا
وَتُزْهَى بِفَارُوقِهَا الْأَوَّلِ
