1. Never shall the Quran be altered,
Though the Torah and Bible were changed.

2. Say to those who cast aspersions on this Book,
Finding no concordance with their commentary and interpretation:

3. Do you liken those of reason to yourselves in creation,
As people resemble one another in appearance?

4. Attribute falsehoods to the Quran and fabricate
Vain sayings - never shall falsehoods avail.

5. Heap censures on it as your fancies please,
For it stands above the apex of truth as a crown.

6. What can you say of its clear verses
Adorned by the dictation of time?

7. What can you say of its pure pages,
Guidance from God, verified by Gabriel?

8. Its verses with Islam's guidance never ceased
To guide generations, one after another.

9. What verse filled with reminders and insight,
What verse filled with wisdom and detail!

10. Its discourse is truth - no flexing or lying,
Its rule is right - no bias or favor.

11. So in it no station for the elite,
As in Eden, no lowly place for the damned, as in Hell.

12. No cunning, cheating, swindling or wronging,
No backstabbing, vexing or tyranny.

13. Its noble social doctrine
In rule, had not ramblings about it dragged on.

14. It is but guidance for people, radiant,
Its name "Revelation" shedding light.

15. If generations and eras passed it by,
Did you see it subjected to repeal and change?

16. It was the most just law to rule
The affairs of nations - so why the talk and bickering?

17. What ails this Achilles to mock
Its decisive verses - would that he ne'er were!

18. Why does Achilles rave in his article
Like a shepherd dreaming fancies in slumber?

19. Why does Achilles berate the Muslims, who are
Unsullied progeny of lofty ancestry?

20. Their minds by Quran's light perspicacious -
No misguidance tempts their considered opinion.

21. Their governance, consultation - their creed
God's opening, no slaying or torture.

22. How bigotry from a people whose motto
Despite catastrophes is easing, smoothing the path?

23. Truth never lacks defenders surrounding it
With ramparts - though misguidances abound among us.

24. Thus the stalwart protects statues from falling.
I see the late Abduh charging ahead

O God, bless Abdulhamid for his courage,

26. An intrepid hero whom no threats can shake.
You have blotted out Achilles' words

27. As the heroes of Abraha blotted out the elephants.
