1. I praised You with my tongue and soul
And praised Your abundant gifts of grace

2. With Your name I begin and extol You
With what extolled the seven oft repeated

3. With You I took refuge from enemies' strife
As I fortified against the woes of time

4. For my work I implored You, my God
None but You is my aide and sustainer

5. You who graced me with success and virtue
And taught me the words of eloquence

6. Inspire in me integrity, let me not stray
And spare me the evils of the tongue

7. Poetry made my life blissful
Becoming the interpreter of my thoughts

8. I never ceased rousing my people
With it to see them in the highest place

9. Therefore I hoped it would remain a treasure
For my people, extolling and building

10. And bring me Your pleasure, You who are worthy
To bestow Your pleasure on me without trial

11. And bring me the pleasure of the purest Prophet
Who called me to Your most sublime delight

12. When the ode was recited to him he listened
And from it derived for me counsel and meaning

13. He listened to Ka'b's recital
And rewarded him with the Yemini cloak

14. Just as Hassaan enticed him to war
And with it became the ace of champions

15. Bestow upon him the finest You pray
And draw him close, away from all who owe

16. And exceed the family and companions
With the fullest reward from You and favor

17. They spread the guidance of Islam forever
With the selfless spirit they expended

18. And left it to us, most precious heritage
Of lofty status in both worlds

19. My God, we by Your protection sinned
So pardon us from each offender's crime

20. You gave us freedom to rule
So inspire us to guard the entity

21. We began by Your name and conclude
So grace us and end with safety
