1. Tell my brothers who saw me dead,
Weep for me and mourn me with sorrow,

2. Do you think that I am your dead one?
By God, that is not the dead one, it is I.

3. I am in the image, and this is my body,
It was my house and shirt for a while.

4. I am a treasure, and my veil is a talisman,
Made of dust that found comfort in it.

5. I am a pearl that an oyster contained,
I was erased but the ordeal purified me.

6. I am a bird, and this is my cage,
I flew from it while it remained pawned.

7. Praise be to God who freed me,
And built for me a dwelling in the heights.

8. Yesterday I was dead among you,
Today I am revived and cast off my shroud.

9. Today I whisper filled with awe,
And see God openly and publicly.

10. Secluded in the tablet I read and see,
Everything that drew near and distanced.

11. My food and drink are one,
It is a symbol, understand it well.

12. It is not a delicious wine or honey,
No, not water but milk.

13. Understand the secret, for in it is news,
What meaning lies beneath my words hidden.

14. Destroy my house and discard my cage,
And leave the talisman to nothingness.

15. Tear my gown and shirt,
And leave everything buried in nothingness.

16. I have departed, leaving you behind,
Your homes are not pleasing to me as a dwelling.

17. Do not think death is death,
For it is life, the ultimate wish.

18. Alive is he whom the abode has drowned,
So when he dies, he takes flight on a pillar.

19. Do not be shaken by the assault of death,
It is but a transition from here to there.

20. And take supplies for the journey, do not sleep,
Not wise among us is he who slumbered.

21. And think good thoughts of the Merciful Lord,
Thankful for effort, and come confidently.

22. The essence of our souls is one,
And so is the body, all together from us.

23. I see my soul only as you,
And my belief is that you are I.

24. So have mercy on me, you have mercy on yourselves,
And know that you follow in our footsteps.

25. I ask God for mercy on my soul,
The mercy of God, a faithful companion.

26. And upon you from me is pure peace,
May God's peace be upon the devoted and loyal.
