1. Awaken in the earth, O heavenly inspiration,
And flow, O light of guidance, filling space.

2. Awaken like the spirit, O spirit of hope,
And pervade the universe like electricity.

3. You are the meaning of creation or the secret of survival.
O life from which none can evade,

4. For the wilderness and its wretched and fortunate.
Fill the world and increase, then increase it more!

5. Have no fear you will pass away or perish.
You are the mother of eternity or the sister of destiny.

6. The First, with no last,
Glances at the world with mocking eyes,

7. Tossed about in abundant, foaming,
Magnificent, ingenious splendor,

8. With towering glory and lofty greatness.
O majesty of eternal might!

9. What kingdom is like this great kingdom
Manifest in peace and bliss,

10. From Allah’s abundant overflowing grace?
He is the patron of all merit and favor.

11. He sent down the Qur’an, a light and guide,
In supremely eloquent expression,

12. Its sounds and echoes successive,
Surely this universe was not created vainly.

13. Awaken, O speculations of the ignorant!
Awake! This is dawn’s certainty.

14. He came bright of face and clear of brow.
Defying people with the clear proof,

15. Ordering worldly and religious affairs
In a system of peace and brotherhood.

16. His lifebreath extinguishes evil
Embracing therein life’s offenses.

17. People become gentle spirits among spirits
And whatever wrongs they committed

18. Vanish without a trace.
O healer of affliction who destroys the healer!

19. My people have no doubt or suspicion of you.
The heart of the matter escapes the minds of the wise.

20. O wonder! Every wonder falls short of your wonder.
Where is the secret of alchemy next to your secret?

21. A creator excellent at fashioning souls,
Radiant in their illumination like suns,

22. While the wise bow down their heads
To receive his preaching and lessons

23. Beyond what the believing sages conceived.
God appointed of his household

24. A group who sought refuge in his shade,
Building by his grace their edifice.

25. So their Lord rewarded them with His bounty
With recompense and abundant reward.

26. They call people since desire ran astray
In an age that turned away and went astray.

27. Had this course continued its winding path,
Would people on earth have any guide but him

28. Beyond what the verses of light conveyed?
O Allah, increase Your party victory

29. And confront the times with faith and patience.
Do not lose heart though events unfold,

30. And jihad is most befitting of heroes.
O Allah’s party, carry high his banner!

31. You are the commanders, lead the battalions
Into tumultuous seas of red and black

32. Vindicate Islam from claims of inertness.
Can the soul that animates all be alleged dead?

33. Thus are blinded the hearts of fools.
The struggle intensified and chaos erupted.

34. Our Lord, aid our nation in the fray
And raise on high the banner of Islam.

35. Our Lord, disgrace us not among the nations,
Surely this is glory, the heritage of prophets.

36. Be for us, for the matter is that of the Omnipotent.
What can a helpless nation offer its defender?

37. Leave us not as spoils for the victor.
Answer the call of a poet

38. Seeking only Your approval among poets.
He sends poetry streaming like rays,

39. And blood coursing every vein,
From which it drinks, pure and clear.

40. O Lord, make me a rightly guiding leader
And guide me among those made pure.
