2. I embarked upon elegy, but did not attain a pulpit
That can contain elegy, nor did I find eloquence.

3. Eloquence was constricted, and sorrow overwhelmed me,
Patience and resignation overcame me.

So he became the best guide, lost and confused.

10. Money is the easiest thing for one to squander and lose,
No money has cured the diseases of homelands.

11. Or has not the height of treasures for a person
Been seeking wealth, the most priceless of prices?

12. And if his homeland becomes cheap to a man,
He will find life disgraced and disdained.

13. The misguided liar will not protect his entity,
One who does not protect his homelandโ€™s entity.

14. Your eloquence was from his breaths, O Fawlk,
When his alluring eloquence provoked your eloquence.

15. The breaths of his kindness aroused you, so you went on
Repeating your melodious voice.

16. Days in which he supports the right of Egypt, and seeks
For its defenders the supporters and aides.

17. When he called on the free ones from its passionate lovers,
He did not find them deaf or blind.

21. Whispers wander lost in souls, while his soul
Was filled with faith in his time and its people.

22. Ask it so you may know which sermons it preached,
If you seek knowledge and insight.

23. When they exiled him bitterly, its taste was bitter to him,
And had he not been forbearing and dignified, he would have shown joy.

24. He did not complain of exile, and with it he did not lack
Kinsmen or neighbors.

25. He gathered the protectors in his house, so they became cordial
After discord, and became brethren.

ุฌูŽู…ู‘ู ุงู„ูˆู‚ุงุฑู ุทูŽูˆูŽู‰ ุงู„ู…ูŽุฏูŽู‰ ู†ูŽุดู’ูˆูŽุงู†ุง

26. They pledged allegiances through it to Egypt by a hand
That heals breasts and removes resentments.

27. Their matter would not be more wondrous if they extinguished
The light of peace and ignited fires.

ุจุนุฏ ุงู„ุดู‘ูู‚ุงู‚ู ูˆุฃุตุจุญูˆุง ุฅุฎูˆุงู†ุง

28. They grieve for the wounded homeland, yet they have become
War against the wounded homeland, helpers of injustice.

29. They descended upon the honored Saad's square,
He did not treat them with kindness or benevolence.

30. And they left safely, their elder saying:
"May your Lord greet you", from a caring father.

31. Indeed, he who builds the ranks for his people
Is nobler than he who erected the highest buildings.

ูฃูก. ู†ูŽุฒูŽู„ููˆุง ุจูุณูŽุงุญูŽุฉู ู…ุงุฌุฏู ู…ูุชูƒูŽุฑู‘ูู…ู
ู„ู… ูŠูŽุฃู„ูู‡ู…ู’ ุจูุฑู‘ุงู‹ ูˆู„ุง ุฅุญู’ุณูŽุงู†ุง

32. He ruled the country, walking the path of a just one,
Refusing harm and shunning aggression.

ูฃูข. ูˆู…ูŽุถูˆุง ุจูุนุงูููŠุฉู ูŠูŽู‚ูˆู„ู ูƒุจูŠุฑูู‡ู…
ุญูŽูŠู‘ูŽุงูƒูŽ ุฑูŽุจู‘ููƒ ู…ูู† ุฃุจู ูŠุฑุนุงู†ุง

33. And he established the balance of matters wisely,
Giving the weak against the strong a guarantee.

ูฃูฃ. ุฅู†ู‘ ุงู„ุฐูŠ ูŠุจู†ูŠ ุงู„ุตู‘ูููˆููŽ ู„ูู‚ูˆู…ู‡ู
ู„ุฃูŽุฌูŽู„ู‘ู ู…ูŽู† ุฑูŽูุนูŽ ุงู„ุฐู‘ูุฑูŽู‰ ุจูู†ูŠุงู†ุง

34. He spread civilization in the cities and villages,
And brought prosperity to all its corners.

ูฃูค. ุญูƒู…ูŽ ุงู„ุจูู„ุงุฏูŽ ููŽุณุงุฑูŽ ุณูŠูุฑุฉูŽ ุนุงุฏู„ู
ูŠูŽุฃุจูŽู‰ ุงู„ุฃุฐูŽู‰ ูˆูŠูุฌุงู†ูุจู ุงู„ุนูุฏูˆุงู†ุง

35. And he prepared strong life for the sick,
To build souls and support bodies.

ูฃูฅ. ูˆูŠูู‚ูŠู…ู ู…ููŠุฒุงู†ูŽ ุงู„ุฃู…ูˆุฑู ุจูุญูƒู…ุฉู
ุชูุนุทููŠ ุงู„ุถุนูŠููŽ ู…ู† ุงู„ู‚ูˆูŠู‘ู ุถูŽู…ุงู†ุง

36. The ruler knows him as noble and formidable -
Neither status nor authority made him arrogant.

ูฃูฆ. ุจูŽุซู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุญูŽุถุงุฑุฉูŽ ููŠ ุงู„ู…ุฏุงุฆูู†ู ูˆุงู„ู‚ูุฑูŽู‰
ูˆุฃุฌุงู„ูŽ ููŠ ุฃุฑุฌุงุฆูู‡ุง ุงู„ุนูู…ุฑุงู†ุง

37. His virtues inherited the virtues of his house,
So with which virtue did he want to adorn himself?

38. A house which Islam built the wall of its glory,
And protected its sides and pillars.

ูฃูจ. ุงู„ุญูƒู…ู ูŠูŽุนุฑูููู‡ ู†ูŽุจูŠู„ุงู‹ ูƒูŽุงุจูุฑุงู‹
ู…ุง ุฒูŽุงุฏูŽู‡ู ุฌูŽุงู‡ุงู‹ ูˆู„ุงุณูู„ุทุงู†ุง

39. Time passed but it still remains as it was,
Refusing decline and denying change.

ูฃูฉ. ูˆูŽุฑูุซูŽุชู’ ู…ูŽู†ุงู‚ูุจูู‡ ู…ูŽู†ุงู‚ุจูŽ ุจูŽูŠู’ุชู‡ู
ููŽุจูุฃูŠู‘ู ู…ูŽู†ู’ู‚ูŽุจุฉู ุฃุฑุงุฏูŽ ุงุฒู’ุฏูŽุงู†ุง

40. You, O Muhammad, have a rank in glories,
Which has overtaken me in description and eloquence.

41. You refuted Henderson with the opinion that
Exhausts the cunning and defeats the brave.

43. You pleased your people with noble deeds,
Hoping for God's approval through them.

ูคูฃ. ุฌูŽุงู„ุฏุชูŽ ู‡ู†ุฏุฑุณูˆู†ูŽ ุจุงู„ุฑู‘ุฃูŠู ุงู„ุฐูŠ
ูŠูุนูŠููŠ ุงู„ุฏู‘ูู‡ุงุฉูŽ ูˆูŠูŽุบู„ุจู ุงู„ุดู‘ูุฌู’ุนูŽุงู†ุง

44. And you were angry for the peasant with the anger of one dignified,
The Nile is too proud to see it humiliated.

ูคูค. ุฃูŽุนู’ุทูŽุชู’ ุนู„ู‰ ูŠูŽุฏููƒูŽ ุงู„ุณู‘ููŠุงุณุฉู ู…ุง ุฃูŽุจูŽุชู’
ุฃู‚ุทุงุจูู‡ุง ุฃู† ุชูุนุทููŠูŽ ุงู„ุฃู‚ุฑุงู†ุง

45. God inspired him with guidance and made him
A symbol of the Nile's glory, or a sign.

46. O honorer of lofty literature, you saddened it,
And left it in my heart grieved.

47. You bestowed abundant kindness upon me, and I did not find
Kindness like it before, nor affection.

48. You are not one who withholds, nor am I one who
Accepts ingratitude and prefers forgetfulness.

49. I remember it sometimes, kindness,
And manners that bring beauty to the generous.

50. O company of the free, patience - for it
Is destined, and the affliction of a people has come.

51. You are the aides of your country if its events
Intend aggression.
