1. Let us hasten to the rose gardens
So their coolness may quench the heat of sorrows

2. Let us hasten - our homelands have rights
Without which the noble spirit perishes

3. Shall we abandon them when we are their protectors?
Who else will defend them or guard them?

4. Shall we surrender them to the enemies willingly?
That is the way of the tyrannical people

5. Do the British wish to conquer them?
While their soil is still wet with blood

6. And the specter of discord walks among us and them
Over scattered corpses lying in wait

7. Shall we leave them prey in the hands of the people
While in this weakness lies a piercing arrow?

8. The enemies thought of us with suspicion
Like the illusions of dreamers’ sleep

9. They saw us fewer in number so they called out
To battle us and clash with us

10. And they drove their steeds until the land
Became too narrow, though its expanse is endless

11. We met them with ravenous lions
Who find enemy flesh the sweetest food

12. By your father’s life, our strength did not fail
For us to stoop pleading for peace

13. God forbid us from disgrace and weakness
And from reproach that we adopt

14. No, by God, we do not accept humiliation as religion
Like the way of the subservient and oppressed

15. If the enemy judges unjustly against us
The blade of the sword is more just than them

16. They provoked us as though we were weak
Does the Lord of man deny us victory?

17. Would He abandon us when we pray to Him
Together sitting or standing?

18. So there is no despair though war is prolonged
Of the hoped-for triumph in the end

19. And we will not one day leave the fight
Without a fire flaming and burning

20. Either we live in the shadow of glory
Or we die in the shadow of darkness

21. The homelands - if lost we would accept
Death from sorrows as solace

22. Has the message of my people reached the British?
My people have no dispute or quarrel

23. O excellent people true to every covenant
To troubled homelands, no blame on them

24. Never clinging to the rope of righteousness
Or seeking refuge in bonds of harmony

25. Alas for a generous homeland
That has become between us the target of arrows

26. While we face its torment in silence
As if we are some inhabitants of graves

27. May God protect the British wherever they are
And may their lands be far in the clouds
