1. Egypt, remember me among the immortals
And describe immortality to all who love you

2. Excellent are your martyrs of pure love
Who loved none but you, sought no other but you

3. A love that wasted his life for your sake
Yet kept loving you and obeying you

4. When he saw you, and life's goodness
Thirsty, melted his youth and quenched it with you

5. This is the drink of those who gave their souls
By God, did the echo drink and heal you?

6. Do you remember, over the biers and their turns
His chaste love, how it purified you?

7. Do not neglect, O Egypt, memory of a martyr
Who will not neglect remembering you

8. He whispered to you tender greetings
Hail the martyr and repeat his whispers

9. Hail genius you found, and for loving you
His breaths exalted you, losing him distressed you

10. His ethics adorned the ethics of men
While you adorned their years with your years

11. He plunged into fray to protect you from harm
And guard your tent from reckless misfortunes

12. He never swayed from Mustafa's law
Never betrayed your covenant or aided your enemies

13. That law, no whisperings of an ignorant mob
Who did not know the tyrant's wicked nature

14. Whoever is ignorant of what I say—this is
Egypt, grieved, and her youths weeping
