1. The East's domains, there's no power in truth
The wounded recovered, wisdom went astray

2. Leave fate be, and don't want its quakes
With the towering giant or the towering minaret

3. And welcome the strokes of fate humbly

And death strikes down each of us, the tippler

5. The trusted one fell on the remnants of his comrades
In the midst of heroes, the boldest of knights

6. He folded the ages, and harbored in his soul
The countries full, of jinn and of mankind

7. It casts the nations, if they rebel, with a tyrant
The thunderbolts of the Almighty, severe in might

8. The noble ones lived the days flourishing
So the eye sees of them only remnants

9. Fate is a revelry, it does not cease to strike us
With the unknown accident, striking the cup with the cup

10. I exalted the bold knight, enraged
Between the two slain, in loyalty and in affliction

11. The best of men for life's gown, a young man
Clad in the garb of strife, weaver of peril's attire

12. Yet he is death, not warded off with weapons
Nor repelled are its havocs with guards

13. It struck the Trusted One with a fang penetrating
In a nation hostage to fangs and molars

14. It casts the nets on it, every hunter
And inflicts havoc on it, every despicable beast

15. The evil shepherds still make it
A pasture for rapacious, quick-striking foxes

16. Halted in effort, as time passes with it
As if its hopes are tied with poles

17. It invokes the covenant with tyrant folks
Who ruled the nations and were the worst of governors

18. Their tormentor annuls in every kingdom
Casts down the slaves and protects each pimp

19. Blessed is the faithful whose purity was greatest
In the vicissitudes of a world laden with sins

20. Certain in soul, no doubt clouds his conscience
That harms him in truth's garb, each young man

21. The dissenter's gown among the people his attire
He whom doubts do not trouble and suspicions do not haunt

22. The integrator of disputes, his doctrines countless
His directions boundless, by any measure

23. An evil breed that does not cease, each one of it
Splits into diverse forms and species

24. The East quakes, Islam terrified
The countries suffering, fearing each despicable

25. Loud in clamor, a day of its tragedies
Like Hamza's day, or the day of Ibn Abbas

26. Tunisia's screams, unceasing their echoes
The wailings of Beijing and the laments of schools

27. And next to Mecca, when it and its neighbor perished
Not like Baghdad's worries and torments

28. The calamities pass, forgotten after their intensity
And the calamities of the Prophet's family have no equal

29. They took him as a boy in wisdom and guidance
In a boy of the messengers' flowing tears, a drawer

30. A light from the Highest Assembly, its rise
Radiant flows in each lamp

31. The just knight did not wrong a hero
And did not give him bitterness except by the scales

32. The free writer did not rend the sanctity of a pen
With absurdities and did not jest with paper

33. Of a people without baseness or weakness
Clinging to God's rope, wise

34. Debauchery does not make permissible the degradation
Of an honorable deed, except it plunges in their probity

35. They are the fortress, striking every taking refuge
Bold archers, banishing each transgressor

36. We are not steeds of harm, if a need arises
For the usurpers, and we were not lax

37. The matter improves only gradually
And life lengthens only with foundations

38. Not arid is your place of rest from dew greeting it
What is in Paradise of roses and chamomile

39. I exalted your calamity until only the verdant
Withered from the heat of my sighs

40. How can my soul possess condolence in you
While grief possesses my essence and sensations

41. I have in your affliction, if a person's soul settled
The soul of the wounded, and the heart of the grieving comforter

42. I cry for the fortress, confused, attaining no reprieve
Of hope, inclining toward despair

43. What danger in joys and sorrows
My sorrows are in life, and my joys too
