2. A storm startled the dwellings and terrified Yathrib,
Death bellowed horribly, depriving us.

3. An arrow struck the Muslims and pierced
The core of guidance and the shields of faith.

Seeing that as most beneficial for the builder.

6. The warrior left to buy honor for his land
With the most noble of prices โ€“ his soul.

A hero preserving the sanctity of homelands.

Undeterred by obstinacy or transgression.

12. Affliction befell his people, so immediately
The contagion was in the foreigner's hand, abasing all.

14. The Red Sea roared with its billows
And the land quaked with constant tremors.

15. And death, amid its lightning and thunder
Struck the plains with a fierce torrent.

17. Showing no mercy to the meek soul
Or respecting the rights of child or aged.

18. They attacked the Imam, so he opposed them fiercely
Settled in their dense settlements.

And God's fiercely valiant warriors.

25. Events blew, their winds relentless
Until they ended and the reasons split.

26. Have mercy! The Muslims grew divided
And separated across the earth after unity!

30. I continued to gather their fragments in verse
Until my craft expired and my time elapsed.

Consider the lessons of fate!

32. O anguished state of Islam, your martyr
Scented his perfumed shroud, at rest.

33. Does guidance elicit your grieving sighs
Or zeal inflame in you a fiery breath?

34. Did nations who profess the Clear Book
Wear the raiment of mourning for his loss?

35. The tragedy struck, yet tears brought no relief
Nor elegy comfort from what I met.

39. You came down from the chambers of Paradise, blissful,
With cheerful, delighted neighbors.

For anxiety has filled every space.
