1. The dirge called out, but I could not express my sorrow,
Would that my dirge were for the Imam and his supporters!

2. A storm startled the dwellings and terrified Yathrib,
Death bellowed horribly, depriving us.

3. An arrow struck the Muslims and pierced
The core of guidance and the shields of faith.

4. It wounded the Imams, leaving an unhealed sore
Until the warriors were ravaged without restraint.

5. The Imam left to fortify the faith
Seeing that as most beneficial for the builder.

6. The warrior left to buy honor for his land
With the most noble of prices – his soul.

7. With their souls the virtuous vie
Between swords and spears wielded in battle.

8. If you do not know the extent of his valor in war
Ask the regiments of the coated armor.

9. Arrogance cast him back to his lands
A hero preserving the sanctity of homelands.

10. The weak wavered. Should he remain
Or depart, the frail and wavering one?

11. He disdains, with his might, the submissive lowlands,
Undeterred by obstinacy or transgression.

12. Affliction befell his people, so immediately
The contagion was in the foreigner's hand, abasing all.

13. He seized the lands and their regions trembled,
Pelting the horizons where no safety could be found.

14. The Red Sea roared with its billows
And the land quaked with constant tremors.

15. And death, amid its lightning and thunder
Struck the plains with a fierce torrent.

16. He claimed the wilderness and wastelands, leaving
No refuge for eagles or haunt for falcons.

17. Showing no mercy to the meek soul
Or respecting the rights of child or aged.

18. They attacked the Imam, so he opposed them fiercely
Settled in their dense settlements.

19. The memory of glorious deeds aroused in us
Traditions of the son of Walid, Hassan.

20. The Prophet's army marched under his banner
And God's fiercely valiant warriors.

21. The defiant Arabs and Turks
Two swords plunged in the depths of turmoil.

22. Now in the crashing surf of blood
And then in the seething flames.

23. God united them, so in good and ill
They are brothers.

24. Reasons from the world of nations and their faith
Sowed disunity, dividing them.

25. Events blew, their winds relentless
Until they ended and the reasons split.

26. Have mercy! The Muslims grew divided
And separated across the earth after unity!

27. If I weep it is because I feel their pain
In my shoulders, chest and soul.

28. My streaming tears bespeak no doubt
For they are the essence of my spirit’s fervor.

29. I who saw their plight most clearly
Am he who probed and grasped it in my fingertips.

30. I continued to gather their fragments in verse
Until my craft expired and my time elapsed.

31. See how time destroys the towering builder.
Consider the lessons of fate!

32. O anguished state of Islam, your martyr
Scented his perfumed shroud, at rest.

33. Does guidance elicit your grieving sighs
Or zeal inflame in you a fiery breath?

34. Did nations who profess the Clear Book
Wear the raiment of mourning for his loss?

35. The tragedy struck, yet tears brought no relief
Nor elegy comfort from what I met.

36. Ahmad merits the Call to Prayer as his elegy
At every call, from the minarets.

37. If a further pillar were added to the prayer through me
I'd make it firmest of the pillars.

38. O neighbor of the Prophet! You gained his blessed company
And enjoyed his guarantee and protection!

39. You came down from the chambers of Paradise, blissful,
With cheerful, delighted neighbors.

40. Leave behind the harm of life, leave the delusions
With which it adorns itself for people - lies and slanders!

41. And, Ahmad, delight in your place of bounty and joy,
For anxiety has filled every space.

42. Indeed, the condition of Muslims, for it
Is the way of eras and law of events.

43. The world of nations, and life has its own principles -
Looting the helpless and spoils for the bold.
