1. A voice calls from the highest horizon

From which the hand of the common aggressor recoils

The paths of life grow dark, you are the guide

8. In the thick of events, your view is right
Truth makes clear the landmarks plainly

9. Guard souls from partisan passions
And weigh affairs with wisdom and justice

10. Moderation is the station of guides and a trait
Of reformers that removes all corruption

11. Leave the path of the tyrant in his opinion
Leave the path of the inept yes-man

12. I salute your council, highly esteeming its due
So take the greeting from the bard of the valley

13. An offshoot of the constitution, blessed be its time
The age of noble birth

14. And if you raise for life its pillars
You will find the constitution the best pillar

15. The pillars of kingdoms never stood
A day on oppression or tyranny

16. Do you not see the East, how caprice destroyed it
And the rule of individuals brought it to ruin
