1. Welcome the delegation who came from afar
Seeking religion and rejecting disbelief

2. They have no regrets or remorse, they are
A group unlike any other group

3. They succeeded when they kissed the best hand
And the best people deserve success

4. Truth descended upon their poet
Self-evident in argument, clear in influence

5. Al-Jārūd spoke truly that Allah
Sent these people to the guide of mankind

6. The mention of him came in Jesus' Gospel
So he came to see the fulfillment of the news

7. He kept asking about him until there appeared
From the certainty of the matter what had been hidden

8. He increased them in knowledge from his knowledge
And from his treasured surplus

9. God unveiled for him what was obscured
In the corners of the unseen then appeared

10. This land and its palms
All kinds of fruits are seen in it

11. They chose Islam as a religion and passed away
What had misled people of false religions

12. They were commanded with good, obligatorily theirs
No alternative, and prohibited from all evil

13. They decried wine, then abstained
And abstained from wine, sufficient for the abstainer

14. The delegation of Abdul Qais, no darkness of opinion
Can equate you to the shining path

15. There is no cure for anyone in wine
From illness, nor protection from harm

16. Beware of it, it is the cunning
That Satan schemed in past eras

17. It is evil and harm for the people
And for hatred it is a kindling fire

18. Not like one who does good and satisfies his Lord
Is one who satisfies his desire and transgresses

19. Sufficient for you is what was of it and enough
Is what you have seen or heard of lessons

20. In the Messenger of Allah when he informed you
Of wine's afflictions, great signs

21. Refrain from all he prohibited
And do all he commanded

22. Ask this lad about your sheikh
And ask me about the wonders of fate

23. One image faded and another emerged
From the images of the Capable King

24. Ask the present about the absent or
Ask the absent about the present

25. The madman left, his strength spent
And the sane came, his will resolute

26. God's power was manifest in a hand
Of great glory, blessed in influence
