1. The archers of Egypt shoot every archer
The archers have indeed rebelled against the arrows

2. They shot at the spring until it was said to have perished
Yet they did not refrain from shooting with arrows

3. And made them arrows from fresh, slender branches
That tear apart the intestines of the warrior in combat

4. If they found the arrows scattered and broken
The archer found nothing but doves

5. I saw the sanctuary of God violated
Though it had been an impenetrable fortress

6. So where are its protectors who defended it
And where are those holding its reins

7. As for any who slumber among them, I
Have risen to rouse the sleeping people

8. I will startle in their beds every living soul
And shake the graves and the bones
