١. وَكَأَنَّ فاهاً باتَ مُغتَبِقاً
بَعدَ الكَرى مِن طيِّبِ الخَمرِ
2. It surrendered to the melting water

٢. شَرِقاً بِماءِ الذَوبِ أَسلَمَهُ
بِالطودِ أَيمنُ مِن قُرَى النَسرِ
3. The knocking of heads to her voice is wailing
In the spring, the meadow, and the lote-trees
٣. قُرعُ الرُؤُوسِ لِصوتِها زَجَلٌ
فِي النَبعِ والكَحلاَءِ وَالسِدرِ
4. She wandered seeking good in trails
Winding and green valleys
٤. بَكَرَت تُبَغِّي الخَيرَ فِي سُبُلٍ
مَخرُوفَةٍ وَمَسارِبٍ خُضرِ
5. Until an adorned knight in red surprised her
If she had known, she'd have frowned at him in displeasure and aloofness
٥. حَتّى إِذا غَفَلَت وَخَالَفَها
مُتَسَرِبلٌ أَدَماً عَلى الصَدرِ
6. Until she descended from her dwellings
With seven rooms and yards
٦. صَدَعٌ أُسَيِّدُ مِن شَنُوءَةَ مَش
اءٌ قَتَلنَ أَباه فِي الدَهرِ
7. It did not enrich Abu Karib
Nor what Abu Al-Jabr had amassed
٧. يَمشِي بِمِحجَمِهِ وَقِربَتِهِ
مُتَلَطِّفاً كَتَلَطُّفِ الوَبرِ
8. From the raid of rosy-cheeked Duhum
Red-faced, with a virgin nose
٨. فَأَصابَ غِرَّتَها وَلَو شَعَرَت
حَدِبَت عَلَيهِ بضيّقٍ وَعرِ
9. It revealed the swords of a resolute warrior
Forged like glowing embers
٩. حَتّى تَحَدَّرَ مِن مَنَازِلِها
أُصُلاً بِسَبعِ ضَوَائنٍ وَُفرِ
10. The polished swords of the valiant were unsheathed without
The weight of Khawlid's eternal concealment
١٠. ما كانَ أَغنى عَن أَبِي كَرِبٍ
ما كانَ جَمَّعَ أَو أَبِي الجَبرِ
11. I see camels which Dar Al-Hifaz distressed
And the prison of commerce confined
١١. مِن هَجمَةِ دُهمٍِ مُزَنَّمَةٍ
حُمرِ الخُدُودِ وقَينَةٍ بِكرِ
12. Asadiyya camels that graze on Sirad
When narrow, they come near my hair
١٢. وَأَبَحَّ جُندِيٍّ وَثَاقِبَةٍ
سُبِكَتِ كَثَاقِبَةٍ مِنَ الجَمرِ
١٣. وَجَدِيدِ حُرِّ الوَجهِ حُودِثَ بِال
مِثقَالِ خَبءِ خَوالِدِ الدَهرِ
١٤. إِنِّي أَرى إِبلاً أضَرَّ بِها
دارُ الحِفاظِ وَمَحبِسُ التَجرِ
١٥. أَسَدِيَّةٌ تَرعَى الصِرَادَ إِذا
ضاقَت وَتَحضُرُ جانَبي شَعرِ
