1. O dwellings of the living between enclosures,
Beside El-Kumeirah, as though they had not changed,

2. You halted in them not craving for Ubānah's judgement hall,
Nor does despair heal the recollection of the reminiscent one.

3. O you who weep over what can be relied on,
Be patient toward what time brings, and be graceful over it.

4. Did the apparition of Umm Aymam saddle us
With humility while my companions are in Darat Kanzar?

5. When they slumber above the bed, a scent of musk and ambergris
Envelops them.

6. So if you are not pleased with what has come to pass,
And if denial is with you, then deny.
