1. And in explaining the stops, he
Has five categories in order I will follow
١. وَدونَك في شرح الوقوف وإنه
لخمسة أقسام على النسق أَعقبا
2. A stop for questioning, which is what the people of truth
Disagreed about, each claiming more rightness
٢. وقوف سؤال وهو مما تخالفت
أَولو الحق فيه وادعى الحق أَصوبا
3. They made obligatory to skip it and made
Cursing through it permissible, until all excessively did so
٣. وقد أَوجبوا فيه التخطي وأَشرعوا
به اللعن حتى كلهم فيه أَطنبا
4. As for a stop due to misguidance, it
Is the stop of one whose intellect in it wavers,
٤. وأَما وقوف للضلال فإنه
وقوف دخيل العقل فيه تذبذبا
5. Of the heretical innovator and whoever aligns with him
And whoever absolves himself of it, whether stopping or in love
٥. من المحدث الجاني وعن من يواله
وعن من تبرا منه للوقوف أَو حبا
6. Likewise the ambiguous stops, for when
The two parties prepare for battle
٦. كذلك أَشكال الوقوف فإنه
إِذا الفئتان للقتال تألبا
7. Or the two men innovate then disagree
And you do not know the origin of the innovation until you correct
٧. أَو الرجلان أَحدثا فتخالعا
ولم تدر أَصل الحدث حتى تصوبا
8. And a stop for safety, that you see
Your guardian coming with what you did not know and rides
٨. وأَما وقوف للسلامة أَن تَرى
وليّك يأتي ما جهلت ويركبا
9. So some of the view is religion in your sight after this
And some saw it, and it is the view you should cultivate
٩. فبعض رأي دينا وقوفك بعد ذا
وبعض رآه وهو رأي تهذبا
10. And the stop for religion, all people
Your stop from them is religion so you can see the prophethood
١٠. وأَما وقوف الدين فالناس كلهم
وقوفك دينا عنهم كي ترى النبا
11. So whoever shows evil from it, oppose him
And whoever shows righteousness and good from it, then love
١١. فمن بان منه فعل شر فعادِه
ومن بان منه الرشد والخير فاحبِبا
