1. O people of the graves, what is your response
To the one who called you, O people of the graves

2. You have traded them for palaces
And the graves are far from palaces

3. The niche became instead of the bed
And the earth's furnishings instead of silk

4. How will you respond when asked
By the two angels, Munkar and Nakir

5. And how did you find joy in them
Or did you not find the opposite of joy

6. Are your neighbors, people of graves
Visitors, or captives waiting for resurrection

7. Oh what loneliness of a dear companion
And what humiliation after luxury

8. At the blowing of the horn, they are anxious
Hostages to loved ones, without images

9. Some shackled by sins
Others set free without imprisonment

10. The judgment of God is enforced in the wild
None can challenge the decree of the Almighty

11. I seek refuge in You, my God
Forgiveness from You protects the seeker of refuge

12. If You punish me justly for my sins
And if You pardon, it is grace from the Forgiving
