1. My hearing and sight have betrayed me, my vision has failed me
And my heart grew old, so I have no blame for my poetry

2. My old age and hopes were wasted in my youth
So I returned from it to adolescence and childhood

3. My dream was foolish, young, despised
My ignorance and sin were great, full of enormity

4. I wasted the time of repentance in my youth, so
After old age, if I repent, what is my excuse?

5. I meet the decree as it comes, broken down
And I was not pious, nor did I fulfill my vows

6. I obey my soul and disobey those who advise it
It seeks its guidance but guides me to ruin

7. The soul tells me: enjoy what you have attained
And follow my passions for the rest of your life

8. It did not know that after its pleasures
Are plunging difficulties that depart from the chest

9. May God protect me from a treacherous soul
Blind that feels nothing until it is in Hell

10. Thanks to God and from Iblis its guide
And from its passions - I am in fear and caution

11. And all that the Creator has decreed will pass
Inevitably, and the decreed is no use against fate

12. But I have hope in God that revives me
From the abyss of despair branded with disappointment

13. My sin is great but God's forgiveness is greater
Than my sin, and the ocean does not equate to a drop

14. I love in God the deeds of the righteous and have not
Ceased it and from them my fate has been determined

15. Maybe by their love the Merciful will gather me
In a group with them from the best of groups

16. It has been said whoever loves even a rock
In the world will be gathered with who he loved from the rock

17. Forgiveness, pardon, absolution and gain from me
O Healer of fractures, heal my fracture with consent
