To the booty sixty arrows arrive

2. On the backs of camels in a line
Forty are for the warriors who strive

3. By God's judgement each receives his fine
Eight are for those who raised Islam's call

4. With bravery, the stalwart and the tall
The footman takes one arrow as his haul

5. The horseman, two, for facing war's pall
Three arrows the orphans gently draw

6. The needy likewise by sacred law
So nine have come, complete in full

7. Sixty arrows now lessen in pull
Of those remaining, three arrows stay

8. To divide, inspect their display
One arrow for God without delay

9. One for the Prophet's kin today
One last the Messenger will convey
