1. Man remains in his world like a target
His core is exposed to death's arrows

2. He overlooked the incidents that befell him
As if he was unaware of devastation and excitement

3. He grazes in the meadow of wishes, the flower of his evil
And he quenches his thirst with the water of wonder and hatred

4. With greed, he objects to misfortunes
And does not object to good deeds

5. And in collecting harm, violating
And guidance, even if guided, without violation

6. He is heedless and plays with deceptive hopes
And nothing startled him except the incident of illness

7. Like a flock grazing the meadows of sorrow
Playing, unaware of the hunter in ambush

8. And whenever his condition worsened, he hurriedly made a vow
So if he recovered, he returned to being lively and active

9. He persisted long after his recovery
Lost in ignorance, forgetting agony and excitement

10. He hopes for the continuity of a happiness that amazed him
Alas! That will not happen, for the matter is decreed

11. No bounty comes without being followed
By a misfortune that saddens you with hatred

12. Can a bounty be pure of a misfortune that follows?
As long as the eyelids blink for slumber

13. Its secret pleasure is paired with death
Like pairing a corpse with a shroud

14. No good in bounties followed by sorrows
And health that leads to illness; miserable compensation

15. Woe to him who rejoices, wealth hoarded
Blessed is he content with water he sipped

16. None knows the value of days but a youth
From the pitch-black nights, violating

17. To him, sleep or wakefulness are the same
The target joined with a target is inescapable

18. The youth attains what he wished closely
Only to long for more excitement

19. So work for your final days diligently
And gain, through deeds that surprise fate, when it is kind

20. Devastation needs no time
Nor attention to spread

21. It carries the caravan of death, then faces it
With inadequate and tasteless provision

22. They forgot him and did not feel his wakefulness
And that he longed for death in agony

23. The nights have rebelled against fate's work
And were pleased with his asceticism and writing

24. Knowing his fate is in God's hands, relying
On meeting Him, blessed on Judgement Day

25. What will the announcer of death say to him when
His hopes are fulfilled and he won the Gardens of Bliss

26. He lived not miserly or extravagant
And died without sin or fault

27. He reflects on his Creator's planning
His eye wanders protected to humility

28. With a pure intention and truthful eloquence
And a humble appearance

29. As if Hellfire was not created
Except to torment him, so he avoided its heat

30. He had two captives among the people, so by them
He had neither bonds, nor money

31. Its fires illuminate villages at night
And his light from night devotions radiates

32. The fasting worshipper who breaks his fast only with lawful food
When misers' stars disappear in the darkness of night

33. Feeling lonely, he meets hardships as
He meets guests without fear or loathing

34. O you who found asceticism, were it not for the asceticism
Of your father and asceticism of your remaining sons

35. You would have left me burdened, engulfed in anxiety
Climbing the difficult breath of choking agony

36. From you comes what pains me
Not the distress of sin, but that of contentment

37. As if you saw my deep sadness for you
So you chose this and not a tenth of agony

38. You left my heart fluttering like an eagle's feathers
While sadness from remembering my heart does not subside

39. You left a wound of sorrow gashed in my heart
It withers while the structure of my grief stands tall

40. With tears flowing down my eyelids
Flowing like pouring rain on a cheek

41. I tend to the stars for a glimpse of you
Full of calamities and sorrow that cannot be avoided

42. Your affliction overwhelmed even if it was confined
To the inhabitants of the heavens and earth's people

43. A glimpse of it is greater than a ripped shirt
Or slapping a cheek and pouring tears from the eye

44. Today every favor you bestowed weeps
After fulfilment, it was broken and invalidated

45. Who is there for a family who lost their pillar and a widow
Who turned desolate and a refuge that dissolved?

46. Who is there for a school encompassing knowledge
And a mosque, cradle of remembrance and donation?

47. Who is there for darkened, roaring clouds
Guided by its lightning to their pastures?

48. He passed away but his gifts are immortalized
And the diffusion of his generosity did not cease

49. How strange are people who walk, O people
When the widely known target was exposed to arrows

50. Or were you in your vacant grave by His mercy
So the narrowness of sorrow in my heart overwhelms me?

51. I wish your grave was dug in my core
I will enshroud you with compassion and embrace

52. I wish you were buried in a cave so perhaps
I would wrap you in my eyelids and in my caress

53. I hope you will intercede for me on Judgement Day
So have mercy on my wailing and lend me an ear that hears

54. I hope from you on Judgement Day what I hoped in the days
When you were a refuge for people in distress

55. Your grave pours forth eloquence
With early morning rains or pleasant drizzle

56. As if your generosity or that of your good children
Flowed into the earth where the sea did not pour

57. Of things people carry, the heaviest
Is being charitable with it over keeping it

58. And the lightest thing people leave behind
Is the contentment of companions over any wealth

59. The smallest in patience among those who uphold
God's religion are just, pleased, and pure

60. So I recalled the bounty of those who are hoped for
And their brothers, untainted by sins or hatred

61. You still follow in the footsteps of your father
For rain follows fertile growing land

62. I remain a stranger to you, honorable signs
Recited to you, and an undiminished glory

63. Excellent consolation to you, and emulating him
In his abundant generosity or discreet bounty

64. The sun still radiates clear light
And the lion is still a lion, not made of gold
