1. May God not renew sorrow between you,
After patience flowed in the course of captivity,

2. Sorrow for sorrow is not your worship,
You have only found the past, grief and tenderness

3. If part of sorrow took refuge in a fortress,
Part of it would destroy it, and the fortress remained intact

4. And how can one grieve for the dead when we are like them
Like a train on traces or paired?

5. I am not hopeless about the goodness of his beliefs
He lived by death and was paired with his grandfather

6. Live as you wish and sprinkle as you wish freely
The secret of life is bound by the harm of death

7. And death did not give any creature truce
Alas! Death is no truce if it were to make truce

8. If a person lived in the shackles of misery, it would be different
In death, when he escapes and comes close

9. The resolute one went ahead while the onlookers gathered
And after them he guided in their footsteps

10. The wise one in opinion is not confident
Of fate even if given bliss would be mad

11. If you want then be courageous whatever you want be a coward
The arrow of death hit the brave and the coward

12. What we built, death destroys it
Who is it that built you the building where it built?

13. And whoever bore him, death made us lose him
And whoever we befriended, death separated us

14. Death does not stop the mighty armies of mountains
Nor is it deterred by white and brown soldiers

15. None knows the harm of worldly life and its affliction
Except one harmed by it, squeezed and tested

16. Whoever logic did not guide him and forbid him
Faced incidents, distressed, confused, and shaken

17. We have in our fathers and offspring a lesson
The clearest lesson is to look at ourselves

18. We neglect and play with fanciful hopes
As if death promised us immortality

19. This world is just gardens of wishes
And we are cattle grazing its plants safely

20. And death like the hunter watching his traps
We did not know until we were trapped

21. We spend nights and days without fear or awe
Of death, not intending to attain wishes

22. Until the twisted calamities intercepted us
Carried, so our wailing of lament startled us

23. Why are we heedless while hoping
And we were brought up, the aid of the Most High preceded us

24. I console you O Abdelsalam, and my heart
Renews condolences and sorrow

25. I have from your tragedy an arrow with which I live
If you ask me to replace it, I cannot replace sorrow and grief

26. It is strange that I console you, and I
In need of patience, am devoid of it

27. Accept what the Generous Creator ordained, accept
To Him belongs Eternity, and to us limitedness

28. May God not join the conjunction between you
Nor meet suffering, harm and enmity

29. God has made it easy for him, patience in your presence
And through him you have attained the greatest goodness

30. You have not ceased, O Bani Abdelsalam, to be
To us rain, help, and lights for our nation

31. You are stars in a sky illuminated by them
If one star disappears another appears radiating goodness
