1. Had you obeyed me when I gave you advice,
For every vessel leaks what is inside it.

2. The cunning warned you before it happened,
And made clear the wise opinion that clarifies.

3. You belittled the deeds of men out of arrogance,
And considered that poison in water exhales fragrance.

4. You did not know that the dam guided its torrents,
And that from a branch the embers of fire are lit.

5. With your own hands you made the rope at its root,
Your enemy runs it over you and grabs it.

6. Al-Kindi was killed in Caesar's district
By the scheming of the ambitious and the cunning.

7. And everyone who disobeys the loving one and cuddles
His foe will encounter what pains him and saddens him.

8. I adjure you by Allah the Almighty,
To listen to what I am saying and explaining.

9. Do not feel safe from the viper even if its skin is soft,
For in its fangs is lethal poison and a fatal illness.
