1. My heart melts, O Abu al-Khurasi, for your departure
If only your path, O dervish, was still trodden

2. You left me awaiting shooting stars
To herd their straying, and find their paths

3. And if dawn broke, and stirred the doves
Atop their perches, my day turned wretched

4. You were my comfort and joy, but today
You left me to sorrow, a slave bereft

5. What can I do, when death's decree is fixed
And fate's conveyance is shrouded and determined

6. You left Hayra, though its dwellers adored you
And went to live with folk who never owned you

7. I hope that after hosting you awhile
They find you sweet company, and hold you dear

8. Are you a dervish, that if I call, you hear me?
I wish I knew - did you leave not thinking of me?

9. I have no power, no strength anymore
Fate judged the past as it did you, and me

10. Seekers hope their pursuits will reach them
But death's prisoner is never found nor seized

11. You left me, Abu al-Khurasi, in woe
And went yourself to Paradise, at peace

12. You departed no blame on earth you met
No wrong you wrought, no honor left decreased

13. We are consoled that you are happy now
Blessed, fortunate - congratulations feast!

14. No hope remains of you here in this life
But in endless Paradise, should we meet

15. I melt like wax in the sorrow you left me
Whene'er your verses come again to mind

16. Whene'er your songs are sung, I weep over them
Crying, and making your melodies cry in kind

17. I hoped you'd stay, and enlighten the nights' dark secrets
But hoping thus, I was mistaken, I find

18. If God forgives my mourning you, I've gained
All I wished for, from your gifts to mankind

19. You who said, if a servant calls out earnestly
You answer with pardon, when asked of you

20. Forgive me, be gentle and merciful, let me attain
Mercy, O You I've come sincerely to implore

21. To You I repent, guide me on the straight path, say
My servant, I accept you - to righteousness, I guide you

22. For Your glory, I veil sins and am pleased
So pardon this servant, prisoner of his sins, for Your might

23. In You I have faith, hopes, and expectations fair
Never would my Creator disappoint the hopes I bear

24. Immense are my sins, but Your pardon is greater still
Who can match Your goodness, tell me, who has that skill?

25. I fear You in secret, and openly too
Every fear in my heart is only fear of You

27. You are Just - if You punish me, or if You show me mercy
They both come from Your hands, and so Your wisdom I will

28. Content with fate's rulings in days gone by, yes
I wish I knew, am I content with You today?

29. My ancestor Saad, if I gain mercy first from You
Gather me among the people who follow and obey You

30. In Paradise eternal, there I will meet my kinsman
Housed by Your kindness in a palace built to stay
