1. O walker of Hejaz, no more shall we walk it together,
For you have attained what we hoped for in prayer.

2. Seek not the door out for a way to exit.
The door of as-Safa, that you entered,

3. And to al-Marwah you made a blessed ascent.
Drink from Zamzam and rinse of all sorrows,

4. Fear no harm from the water you ingest.
Return to Mina, then climb up the mount,

5. To Arafat, where hope is increased.
Oft you walked the valleys in triumph and joy,

6. Your legs carried you steady and sure.
Oft you persisted when night was pitch black,

7. A ship sailing calmly on waters obscure.
Oft you entered while night was so dark,

8. When sleepers seek rest you stayed wakeful and alert.
Oft you roamed in wild lands untamed,

9. Where arrows flew fierce at each foe and each beast.
When recalling those nights of vigil you shuddered,

10. As a wine-sodden man jolted up from his rest.
At dawn you rose pure with the chaste women,

11. At night you retired as darkness spread.
You shunned pastures made lawful and open,

12. While others grazed there without restraint.
You left Satur’s pool though it flowed freely,

13. And tapped the sweet water of al-Duba’ra instead.
You journeyed far seeking Thu Raif and Wardah,

14. Quenching thirst where clear water gushed fresh.
You drew from the springs of Janabi and Qana,

15. And Maran’s and Gheelan’s, Saeer’s refreshing draught,
Waters no wolf dared approach for itself,

16. When parched did it seek them or consider their taste?
You joined the dawn and the dusk in your travels,

17. Enduring the routine with patience and grace.
Upon you peace as you flew with the caravan,

18. Seeing far past where vision could reach.
At your door O Lord I have cast off my burden,

19. Laden with sin and hoping for grace.
If creation's doors are all shut, My Creator,

20. Yours is still open and beckons my case.
If I find no pardon or gain from You,

21. Then who shall I hope for, O Lord, in my place?
Say to Your servant who came with his sin,

22. Repentant, "We pardon the sin he confessed."
To You I fled, O Lord, from my fears,

23. Vainly a man can take fright or feel stress.
You know my state, O Aware One so watchful,

24. None save You, O Lord, is my fortress.
No path for me save what leads me to You,

25. So light up, O Lord, the way to redress.
To You I whisper my hopes and my secrets,

26. Blessed whose prayers You accept and redress.
If You reject the efforts of the virtuous,

27. No knowledge avails, or pilgrimage, or righteousness.
O Lord, hapless is he whose sight You've not blessed,

28. While the weeping and wailing know happiness.
My God and Object of worship I've asked with humility

29. At Your door my Lord, hoping for success.
The paths of salvation I've walked to seek pardon,

30. Blessed the one who walked them and gained his redress.
I'm a sinner, unworthy, so if I should plead,

31. Silence my tongue, O Lord, that rambles excess.
When I weigh my sin I find no escape,

32. While hoping in You I find widening success.
How many burdens befell fellow sinners

33. Who prayed you would lift them, and You gave redress.
I called You, O Lord, accept my calling,

34. Forgive my missteps and mend all distress.
If You will not be for one sunk in sin,

35. Then who shall protect him from fears and duress?
Who shall be refuge for one guilt exposes,

36. But You, O Lord, when from sin he sought egress.
I look upon ants who blacken the night,

37. Dark as the eyes of deer when night progresses.
O Sustainer of chicks in their nests,

38. Protector in nests where You placed and caressed.
I called You distressed and still call hoping,

39. So I live in dread, by hope of redress.
