1. I advise looking back at the herd in Hazwi’s sands
And sitting if you repeat the calling for al-Ahwa

2. And you fly not anything from hopeless talk
And if your teary eyes don’t miss the target

3. Your stallions are from Izd Shanu’a’s sons
Who if war is kindled are all bending their bows

4. They tour the abode of halal and if
The guiders limit them, they know their limit

5. If they confide among themselves in secret
Their young female camels spread to you their whispers

6. And if you visit them absent from company
Whenever they want, in their eyes are amnesty

7. A fire from drizzle is lit for them
When the pot in their center kindles embers

8. They are bedouin except in my heart urban
And from love of them, I’d love if they shun the bedouin life

9. They are the life, the life from their abode’s life
And if I stay for the caravan after them, miserable

10. And from love of them, I hated the delicate gazelle
And for their sake, I love wild plains and mountains

11. My salute the day I went to them a guest
And my eyelids quenched for the house to shelter

12. I called out happiness, and we called out happiness
And I elevate my voice, and it recognizes elevation

13. I flatter with eloquent flattery to see
Exaggerations of what I love, though they know flattery

14. And the sweetest love I went into, flirting
I see other than what I love to gain what I love

15. And the most eloquent love I meet, a tryst
Where I see people a heart from love’s arts, intimate

16. I ask about the people of passion, passion twisting
And residents of Hazwi, a gazelle I harbored passion for

17. And a night whose stars are all consumed
And it complained to the two dusks from its night, complaining

18. As if its Pleiades on the head, envious
Imagining with a wink what it devised, scheming

19. You’d think Suhayl, leader of Canis Major, a hoof
And folds the sheets as it returns, folding

20. I shielded it with yearning, but found
No one to yearn for, and I have with them no yearning

21. I knocked on their door, and the caravan around their yard
With wide eyes filled with slumber

22. And their pillows are the palms’ trunks, and their palms
Vigilant, twisting from them with the palm’s edge

23. And they spent the night here and there in groups
If they spotted from Najmiah’s direction something hidden

24. I entered arid highlands after the mixed company left
And the caller called me, but I didn’t fulfill his call

25. She said from the treetop, to us and knocking
Deceiving us and reaching us with aimless intent

26. I said my night is dark, and the passion’s night
Is miserable, unable to find in passion respite

27. I recited scripture from the passion of the passion guides
And I’d be, even if they had for them guides, reciting

28. And I was, before today, criticizing passion
And since I tasted it, I criticize those in passion I love

29. And I rebuked those in love who became heedless
And since I threw it, I’m amazed by those who didn’t die of fervor

30. I’m the lovesick exhausted, and whoever denies my misery
Let him witness my body without a story healing

31. Secrets of my sickness in my heart hidden
And entrusts my heart some of them twisted in speech

32. And I’m indeed of a body like a tall palm tree’s trunk
And a heart like a rump in heaviness, or stronger

33. I remained in its ruins when it neglected
And didn’t water it with my tears, so it got stronger

34. Unknown marks, obscure voices
Lost in its expanses, and it determined limits

35. Misguided the treetop if it goes
Imagining blaming on the pinnacle of the cypress

36. And the travelers light Suhayl’s fire
With their palms empty of hoarding palms

37. The wild cats in it loses its kittens
So they scatter in its valleys, their concealed kittens

38. And you hear in it the camels’ gurgling
And the heart forgets its palpitation in its pearl’s sanctuary

39. It cuts while the sands in the dwelling said
And the warblers dwelled in their abode, dwelling

40. And it filled with the sun the ponds, leaving them
Nataij’s leftovers, the pebbles and vegetation finish off

41. With the killing of the companion humpbacked
As if between its jaws, it devoured a scabbed camel

42. Drool climbs up on it, until it’s as if
It’s drunk from its love, resembling the sticky

43. I erased with estrangement every evening
And the tumor melted it, so it became with it, melted

44. And it waded the night’s first part until dawn showed
For it, and it waded while crying for it, crying

45. It thinks the dawn’s streams are water to quench its thirst
But it never ceased wading to it and hasn’t quenched

46. Its limbs are ruined, its water turbid
And the spider built on it, its abode

47. As if the clouds of starlings around it
A flooding of the living’s spears in the twisting thorns

48. As if on it feathers from every side
Fighting of warriors, for war a twisting cry

49. In it the ostrich searches protecting its roses
And around it the predators from thirst, taken to drink

50. I returned in it, and the star stagnant in the depth
Like my companion sitting sipping the bucket

51. And it lectured from life profoundly inspired
With lectures and inspiration – who knows if it sipped inspiration

52. And the best treasure I hoarded for the Return
Is my praise of the Messenger between scholars circulated

53. And I surely hope with praise of Ahmad
To attain wishes and gain the most lofty salvations

54. And even if I were all tongues and eloquence
And lived the age’s lifetime, I wouldn’t

55. Aim to count a tenth of his virtues
Not a tenth of a tenth, and I wouldn’t be strongest

56. O prophet of guidance, without him the world wouldn’t be created
And the life wouldn’t exist and rain wouldn’t pour

57. Without him there wouldn’t be gardens or blazing hellfire
Nor scripts recited, nor stories narrated

58. And without him there wouldn’t be seas, nor would
A sky pave the way, nor would a meadow make comfortable

59. And without him his books wouldn’t send messengers
And without him the luminous enlightenment

60. With his birth, Persia’s fire was put out
And Kisra’s palace fell and his elevation collapsed

61. The idols were destroyed when news of him spread
And the eagle landed with his mission, landing

62. The poles and gazelles greeted him in submission
And the firm rocky ground in his palms prayed, folding

63. And the shining full moon split as it occurred
With his palm for the people water so they drink

64. And a cloud shaded him in the arid expanse
And the midmorning deflected from the people the pebbles, deflecting

65. And how many signs follow each other
Pebbles of sand, never to be counted

66. Upon you Allah’s peace O best intercessor
On a day the seven heavens will fold

67. Upon you Allah’s peace O best messenger sent
And best prophet, revelations unveiled for him

68. Upon you Allah’s peace O source of guidance
And O peak most high, O essence of purpose

69. Upon you Allah’s peace, best chief
To the prophets altogether a role model

70. Upon you Allah’s peace, you who when
A desperate soul comes to you, you show kindness

71. My Master I came to you seeking intercession
And forgiving a sin I didn’t commit deliberately

72. My Master a sin, if it afflicted the kernel,
It would fold, and some accept folding

73. My Master in me is illness, and You are its healer
And not wellness, pardoning, and kindness

74. My Master, I take refuge in your nearness
And I hope for acceptance from You, hoping

75. My Master I ask for Your gift
With a good face, never knowing denial

76. My Master I stand at Your door
With my hand from Your sea drawing buckets

77. My Master, forgiveness, veil, and attainment
For someone who passed his life erring

78. My Master I resided in your nearness
And happy is one who desired your nearness a dwelling

79. For I saw the Arabs digging with pebbles
Preventing a seeker’s side from harm

80. And my assumption of You and love leading me
Is that You don’t accept harm upon Your neighbor

81. So what humiliation while You are its guard
For how the well-water drawer prevented the container, the harm

82. With my doing revive me from my years dormant
Take my hand, my Master, from misguided aims

83. Pull me, pull me, reward me, reward my praise
And grant me a healing cure and give me erasure

84. If I don’t have from my poem a lifeblood
Then who do I hope for, the intercessor I intend?

85. A prayer from the Creator upon you, and you never ceased
To cover your two Imams in piety

86. They in life are your supporters, and after
You met demise, they took your place in juristic opinion

87. Two swords against the enemies and two suns in guidance
Two restraints against transgressors, two opponents in dispute

88. Congratulations, they are your neighbors in life and tomorrow
Their reward is Heaven on the Day of Requital
