1. To how much I patched the world
With my tearing the dress of religion,

2. And I race in fields of desire, filling the fields.
And I disobey those who advise me,

3. And obey those who oppose me.
I closed the proof of my sin, unlike

4. The unlocking that would save me.
I left a path that leads

5. To salvation to guide me.
And I took a path that leads me astray and ruins me.

6. So I have nothing left of the world,
Nor will I stay with my religion.

7. My palm is empty of religion,
So who will redeem me?

8. If I was content with a little of it,
I would be satisfied with a handful,

9. A little water would quench my thirst,
And coarse clothes would clothe and suffice me.

10. If it were not for the attributes of the virtuous,
I would have been healed and recovered.

11. Oh, if only I had buried the sin,
Repenting, before burying me!

12. Pure repentance from the shivers
Of sin's ice would bury me.

13. Oh He who gave me an undiscerning mind,
Lost and discarded!

14. And preceding knowledge of our Creator
That flowed in the people of the two parties (at the battle of Siffeen).

15. I am content with what the Creator decreed,
Setting me free or burying me,

16. And my salvation or doom,
And reforming or corrupting me,

17. To elevate me as He wills,
And to cast me down as He wills.

18. I asked You, my God, confession
Of sin to purify me,

19. And in obeying You, O God,
With sincerity to keep me alive,

20. And what I fear in the Hereafter,
O my Master, protect me from!

21. And what I hope for from this
And that, make me attain.

22. And guide me to the Straight Path
With excellent guidance.

23. So oh my triumph! May God show you
In the Gardens admitted.

24. So in Firdaws or in the Abode,
Or the High Gardens,

25. The honored angels will escort me
To the wide-eyed houris,

26. Greeting me with peace
And good tidings gladdening me.

27. I will embrace the houris joyfully,
Happily, not sorrowful.

28. I will visit Al-Mustafa (Muhammad) therein,
Whenever I wish.

29. May God send prayers on him
As long as the pen flows.
