1. I wrap the agate necklace
With my soft white hands

2. Like the cold and the night
I cough and pray

3. Ask about the house of the generous man
Of great hopes and high aspirations

And his uncles were of noble lineage

6. Chaste when tracing his lineage
Noble in character and lineage

7. Tell them how you erred and trespassed
And failed to visit or correspond

8. And they have shunned you wrongfully
One of refinement and manners

9. You have severed a cord of connection
And broken off intimate friendship

10. Yet none has rejected you
Despite the distance and written words

11. If our advice to you
Has become our disgrace

12. Then our intellect has slipped
With no excuse or reason

13. It is my nature and how I was created
Without malice or spite

14. My affection is not feigned
Nor have I harbored any grudges

15. My friend, I do not fool him
Or speak ill of him behind his back

16. One like me among those who love him
Is sincere and protective

17. If staying apart from you
Is so, then I excuse you

18. And accept others in your place
As I have no right to object

19. And if our ties remain
I will still be bound to you

20. God who created us knows
I have no malice or ill intentions

21. Sustenance cannot be seized
Or destiny controlled

22. Friends cannot be forced
With estrangement or reproach

23. A loyal friend forever abides
If pleasure turns to bitterness

24. And ignores the words of slanderers
Even if against his mother or father

25. Mohammad, O son of the Arabs
In person and in writings

26. I advised you with care and prudence
And labored hard in your service

27. I saw people lacking loyalty
Making peace with their enemies

28. Yet stumbling with their allies
Falling into disgrace and ruin

29. If you seek Oman
Invaders will battle her

30. And the fickle youth
Will turn her upside down

31. All seek only gain
Even from unlikely sources

32. If given, they would not be satisfied
Without spirit or backbone

33. So be among the brave
To reach the rank of virtue

34. For the wise leaders
Occupy the highest stations

35. Be a sword for the tribe of Am
Severing the necks of foes

36. In ease and suffering
A partner never usurping

37. Reconcile if they cut you off
And keep ties if they abandon you

38. Lower yourself however high they ascend
To find in you one who endures

39. The best of people are those patient
Learning from the past

40. Seeing with eyes of reason
The hidden and the manifest

41. This is my advice and affection
All I have, I have revealed

42. Holding nothing back
This is the epitome of kinship

43. Conveying greetings from me
And purest brotherly affection

44. To you without exception
Obedient from this company

45. And do not forget Suleiman
Or his successor who were

46. Loyal friends to you
And all the family lineage

47. I inform you of the past
The refined martyred youth

48. Not one to harbor grudges
Or doubts and suspicions

49. You are his successors
To children he lamented over

50. When discord arose among them
They had no fear of harm
